Éditions Take5 is deeply honored to see our artist’s book Passage/s, created with Do Ho Suh and writer Louis-Philippe Dalembert, exhibited at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA), Seoul, as part of this landmark exhibition devoted to Do Ho Suh’s extraordinary practice.

For Passage/s, Do Ho Suh translated his exploration of space, memory and displacement into the intimate architecture of a book. Conceived as a paper peepshow, it unfolds into a luminous miniature theatre in which a succession of cut-out architectural drawings recede into space. Each layer evokes the threshold of one of Suh’s seminal Hub sculptures—one-to-one-scale fabric recreations of transitional spaces from his past and present homes. Corridors, passages, nooks and hallways overlap, transforming the book itself into a passage through space, memory and time.

The visual journey enters into dialogue with an original text by Louis-Philippe Dalembert, bringing another voice shaped by exile, geography and the experience of inhabiting different worlds.

It has been a true joy to work with @dohosuhstudio, @amiecorry and @nicola._chan in bringing this artist’s book to life, and deeply moving to see Passage/s now presented in this important exhibition in Seoul.

A sneak peek at the printing of our upcoming artist’s book,
Visionaries
created with Prune Nourry and Rachel Eliza Griffiths.

On the occasion of Prune Nourry’s exhibition at the Petit Palais in Paris (opening October 19) featuring sculptures created in homage to women sculptors of the 19th and 20th centuries whose work was too often overlooked, dismissed or relegated to the shadows simply because they were women, Éditions Take5 is publishing a new artist’s book.

Proceeds from the sale of this edition will contribute supporting the exhibition.

Measuring 30 × 30 cm, the edition includes eight original signed photographs by Prune Nourry, alongside a poetic text written especially for the book by Rachel Eliza Griffiths.

• Special edition of 15 copies, presented in a black linen-covered tray case lined with Kozo paper, with a white limestone-encased tablet housing a pair of eyes designed by Prune Nourry and hand-carved in Carrara and black marble.

• Edition of 35 copies, presented in an embroidered organza case.

Congratulations to Conrad Shawcross on his participation in Frieze Sculpture with the remarkable Eye of the Needle (Time Pebble (E30A13))!

Conrad Shawcross is renowned for his mechanical and sculptural works that bridge scientific and philosophical inquiry. His practice explores geometry, our perception of time, and the mysteries of the cosmos.

A pivotal moment came in 2008, during a visit to the Holmdel Horn Antenna in New Jersey—the historic instrument that helped reveal cosmic microwave background radiation. This encounter became a catalyst for Eye of the Needle, part of his Time Pebbles series, in which the notion of deep time meets celestial phenomena.

This elliptical monolith reimagines the traditional clock on a cosmic scale. Through its perforated surface, light and shadow continually shift, inviting us to reflect on how we measure time and on the infinitely vaster history of the universe.

Shawcross continues to explore the Big Bang, the origins of time and the geometry of the cosmos, translating these elusive ideas into tangible sculptural experiences.

Éditions Take5 is proud to have collaborated with Conrad on the artist’s book Library of Absence, created with former World Chess Champion Vladimir Kramnik—a meditation on infinity, absence, and the seemingly boundless possibilities of the chessboard.

Congratulations also to Fatos Ustek
on this brilliant edition of Frieze Sculpture, bringing to the fore the hybrid and fluid nature of our times.

Floating in the Sea of Marmara, just off Istanbul, the Princes’ Islands carry within them many layers of history: once a monastic retreat and a place of imperial exile, they later became a cosmopolitan summer haven, where different cultures, languages and communities lived side by side.

This artist book brings to light the extraordinary archive of Albert Barry, who photographed the islands throughout the 1920s and 1930s, leaving behind thousands of images of landscapes, houses, families and everyday life.

Preserved today by Moris Danon, this remarkable photographic memory offers an intimate glimpse into a world that has largely disappeared.

The book weaves together history, photography, contemporary graphic design and craftsmanship to create a quiet and immersive journey through a place and a time. Every element was conceived with the utmost care and thought to convey something of the serenity, subtlety and suspended atmosphere of the islands.

Soon to be exhibited in several museums, this project also holds a very special place in our own story: it was éditions Take5’s first commissioned artist’s book.

A new adventure — and, we hope, of many more to come!

Warmest congratulations to Homo Faber 2026: An Island of Light, and heartfelt thanks for the invitation to discover this extraordinary celebration of contemporary craftsmanship.

For its fourth and most ambitious edition, Homo Faber brings together more than 700 exceptional objects handcrafted by over 500 artisans from some 70 countries, within the magnificent setting of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. Under the artistic direction of Es Devlin, their work unfolds through 15 immersive installations in which light—reflected through water, mirrors, movement and materials—becomes a way of revealing the gestures, tools, skills and imagination behind each creation.

This celebration of the hand and of the knowledge it carries resonates deeply with the work of Éditions Take5.

In creating our artists’ books, we have had the privilege of collaborating with remarkable artisans such as Jérôme Blanc, Peter Fink, Emmanuel Boos and Jean-Luc Honegger. Their mastery of materials and gestures is not simply a means of fabrication: it becomes part of the creative language of the book itself.

For us, the intelligence of the hand is fundamental. An artist’s book is not only read or contemplated; it is touched, opened, unfolded, held and experienced. Its tactile and visual presence—the grain of a paper, the weight of a material, the resistance of a surface, the trace of a hand—is inseparable from its meaning.

Each of our books is born from this dialogue between artists, writers, designers and craftspeople, where different forms of knowledge and imagination meet through the making of a singular object.

I hope the future will bring us many more encounters and collaborations with extraordinary artisans, and new opportunities to explore what can emerge when artistic vision, material and the intelligence of the hand come together.

Congratulations to Homo Faber and the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship for bringing these exceptional makers, their gestures and their knowledge so beautifully into the light.

Living in a house filled with books changes the entire atmosphere of a home.
Books bring warmth, reflect personality, and character. They form part of the intimate architecture of our minds: repositories of what has shaped us, what has moved us, what we have questioned and believed.

Over time, they become witnesses to our evolution, accompanying the changing paths of our thoughts and sensibilities.

The words, images, and ideas we choose to surround ourselves with become living companions. We return to them at different moments and in different ways.

They teach us, challenge us, console us, surprise us. They offer a permanent, open source of wonder.

With artists’ books, this presence becomes even more tangible. Through their sculptural, graphic, and sensual qualities, they enter into dialogue with the spaces around them. They are not simply books to be read, but objects to live with—quiet presences that shape the atmosphere of a room and help create a deeply personal refuge: a place for contemplation, curiosity, and peace.

“The space I’m interested in is not only a physical one, but an intangible, metaphorical, and psychological one. For me, ‘space’ is that which encompasses everything.” — Do Ho Suh

Here, an immersion into our artist’s book Passage/s, created with Do Ho Suh and Louis-Philippe Dalembert: a peep-show book that invites the viewer into an intimate meditation on space, time, memory, and the elusive territories we carry within us.

Can a book help us grasp the concept of infinity?

Library of Absence, conceived by Conrad Shawcross with Éditions Take5, explores this question through geometry, optics, and language.

The sculptural book is composed of a sequence of precisely laser-cut discs. When illuminated, their layered geometries cast complex interference patterns onto the surrounding walls. As the angle of light or the viewer's position changes, the projections continuously recombine, generating an immense number of possible configurations from a finite structure.

This visual exploration is echoed by the accompanying text of former World Chess Champion Vladimir Kramnik, who reflects on one of the most fascinating properties of chess: how a finite set of rules gives rise to an almost inexhaustible universe of possibilities.

Experimenting this book is also deeply meditative. Standing before the shifting projections, one becomes acutely aware of time, light, and perception. The work invites contemplation, reminding us that infinity is not merely an abstract mathematical concept but something that can be experienced through the endless relationships between forms, light, and the mind that perceives them.

Perhaps this is one of the unique powers of the artist's book: to transform a finite object into a device for contemplating the infinite.

Behind each artist book project lie countless hours of research across remarkably diverse fields—literature, philosophy, typography, paper, materials, binding, and craftsmanship.

Little by little, these explorations shape the future architecture of the book, its rhythm, its tactile presence, and the dialogue between image, text, and object.
This is one of the many notebooks slowly filling with thoughts, sketches, references, and questions as we work towards our next artist’s book, Visionnaires, with Prune Nourry and Rachel Eliza Griffiths.

A glimpse into the process.
More soon...
