Edvard Munch and the Chocolate Factory at @munchmuseum – curated by Ana María Bresciani Arenas and designed by me.

In 1922, Munch’s large-scale paintings for the Freia chocolate factory were the first decorative artworks ever commissioned for a factory, and the first for a women’s canteen. Now temporarily relocated from Freia’s headquarters to MUNCH, the works can be viewed up close, alongside a rich selection of sketches and related works. The exhibition also includes Munch’s preparatory sketches for the Freia frieze, and related works from the museum’s collection which illustrate his fascination with workers, women and children. A rich selection of documentary and archival material gives an extraordinary insight into the times Munch lived in, conditions in the chocolate factory and a changing society. taken in Munch Museum Oslo by @edodoardo

Yesterday, the exhibition ‘Edvard Munch and the Chocolate Factory' finally opened at the MUNCH Museum in Oslo. This extensive project is briefly narrated through these images, which reflect a survey of the work carried out with the exhibition's curator, Ana María Breaciani Arenas and the museum’s team. Over the past months, I have been designing, testing, visiting, exploring, learning, and accomplishing various duties to design the exhibition within the challenges of working in a museum. This selection of images captures the entire process. It includes images of the failed identity, the maquette I built with 179 A3 sheets to simulate the membrane we created to narrate the exhibition's story on walls and tables, a visit to the chocolate factory and the archive of banners, a render of the exhibition space, and, finally, the typographic hierarchy created to guide visitors. by @edodoardo
