✈️ On our way to Port-au-Prince! 🇭🇹🤖Today, Team Educáre Haiti is headed to Port-au-Prince after being invited by the Banque de la République d'Haïti (BRH) to serve as the featured presenters at tomorrow's AI, STEM & Robotics Expo.We are incredibly honored that the organizers chose to fly our team in from Jacmel to showcase how Haitian students are using technology to solve real-world problems and imagine a brighter future.Tomorrow we'll be demonstrating:🤖 Our FIRST Tech Challenge National Competition Robot—designed, built, and programmed by Haitian students.🧠 The mBot Mind-Controlled Robot—demonstrating how brain-computer interfaces can be used to control robotics.🥽 Our Virtual Reality Classroom—bringing immersive STEM learning experiences to students.🎭 Bob, our humanoid robot inspired by Jacmel's world-famous papier-mâché tradition.🌱 TerraLink, our environmental IoT monitoring system designed to help protect natural resources through real-time data.🚀 Mission ShakthiSAT—our international space initiative, where one of our students will represent Haiti alongside young women from around the world in designing a satellite mission.One exhibit is especially meaningful to us.Jacmel is known around the world for its incredible papier-mâché artistry. As our students began designing a humanoid robot, they asked a simple question:Why should technology look like it came from somewhere else?So they built Bob—a robot that celebrates Haitian creativity while showcasing what's possible through engineering and artificial intelligence.For us, innovation doesn't replace culture.It grows from it.The Banque de la République d'Haïti has challenged the country to think boldly about artificial intelligence, innovation, and Haiti's future. One of the greatest privileges of working alongside the Maasai community is being welcomed into moments that have been passed down for generations.Recently, our team was invited to witness a traditional ceremony marking the transition of a Moran (warrior) into the next stage of life as an elder.For the Maasai, this is far more than a celebration—it is a rite of passage. It marks the beginning of new responsibilities: providing wisdom, guiding younger generations, strengthening the community, and preserving traditions that have endured for centuries.It was an honor to be present, to learn, and to celebrate alongside our friends. 📚 School Visitation Day — Uganda ❤️On July 5, our Uganda team spent the day visiting our children at boarding school—checking on their progress, encouraging them in their studies, and reminding them that they are deeply loved.We met with teachers, reviewed classwork, and shared a special lunch of matooke (plantain), potatoes, rice, chicken, vegetables, fresh fruit, chapati, roasted groundnuts, maize, and soda. The smiles around the table reminded us that some of the most meaningful moments are often the simplest.One of the highlights of the day was watching Allen, one of our youngest students, confidently stand before her class and read aloud without fear. Moments like these remind us what is possible when children are given encouragement, opportunity, and people who believe in them.After school, the children proudly showed us their books, shared stories about what they're learning, prayed with us, sent their love to Sister Lauren, and hugged us goodbye. Jennifer couldn't wait to show us her math book, while the youngest children held our hands all the way to the school gate.School visits are about so much more than checking in. They strengthen our partnership with teachers, help us identify challenges early, and remind every child of one simple truth:You are seen. You are loved. This past weekend, our Uganda family gathered for a work bee at our property and future home site in Namayumba. 🌱The little ones swept floors in rooms where construction is still underway. The girls joined Alex, our land keeper, in weeding the garden. Wilson cut back tall grass around the compound to keep it safe. Marvin, now in his final year of secondary school, roasted maize harvested from our own land. Ezra helped prepare hot porridge.And then, together, every child—from the smallest to the oldest—sat down to enjoy a meal they had helped grow. 🌽They were also delighted to discover a ripe jackfruit on the property and enjoyed every sweet bite. 🍈After the work was finished, they gathered together to learn a new song written by a friend. One line especially stuck with them:*"I'm rich. It's the love and the life that I live."*What a beautiful reminder that love is the greatest currency—and we have it in abundance.What we love most about this experience isn't the work that got done. It's what is being built along the way:✨ Responsibility✨ Pride✨ Teamwork✨ BelongingThese children aren't simply receiving care. Through Educare Tanzania's vocational training programs, these women gained the skills and opportunity to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.📸 Slide 2:Anna transformed her tailoring skills into a source of independence and support for her family. Her dream is to one day help other young women facing challenges similar to her own.📸 Slide 3:Carolina, 20, was unable to continue her education due to financial hardship. Through tailoring, she discovered a new opportunity and now works with confidence and purpose at Tumaini Collective.📸 Slide 4:Edinah overcame immense challenges in her childhood and found opportunity through EduCare Tanzania. Today, she serves as Supervisor of Tumaini Collective, supporting and mentoring other young women.📸 Slide 5:Sakina, 26, is a widow and mother of two who was determined to create a better future for her family. Through tailoring, she has gained financial stability and is pursuing her dream of becoming a fashion designer.📸 Slide 6:Sayuni, 25, found a new path through EduCare Tanzania's training program. 💧 Exciting news from Kitungwa Secondary School in Tanzania!A few months ago, the school reached out with a critical need: access to clean, reliable water.With 727 students, Kitungwa Secondary School has been relying on a well that produces saline (salty) water, unsuitable for daily use. As a result, the school has had to purchase water from external suppliers, creating a significant financial burden.Today, we are thrilled to share that this need is becoming a reality.Drilling has officially begun, and a new water well is underway! 🚰This video shares the challenge directly from the school community. 🚀 We were proud to participate in DevExpo2026, one of the largest technology expositions in the country, taking place simultaneously across all 10 departments of Haiti!Our team had the opportunity to showcase three innovative projects that demonstrate how technology can be used to inspire learning, creativity, and problem-solving:🤖 Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) Robot ControlUsing Electrooculography (EOG), students demonstrated how eye movements can be used to control a robot, exploring the exciting possibilities of human-machine interaction.🥽 AI-Powered Virtual Reality ClassroomA virtual learning environment designed to support students in Haiti through immersive education experiences and AI-assisted tutoring.⚙️ FTC & FGC Robotics ProjectsStudents presented their robotics designs, programming skills, and engineering solutions developed through hands-on learning and teamwork.Seeing young innovators confidently present their ideas and engage with visitors was a powerful reminder that the future of technology in Haiti is bright.A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, asked questions, and encouraged our students. 📚✨ BACK TO SCHOOL: A NEW TERM, NEW DREAMS ✨📚In the Greater Kampala area, Uganda, 38 children supported through Educare Now have returned to school, taking another important step toward building brighter futures.On Saturday, May 23, we gathered for a special Back-to-School Blessing before students returned to their classrooms. Through prayer, Bible study, shared goals, and a family meal, we celebrated the opportunities that education brings.Each child received scholastic materials, new shoes, a Bible, and essential supplies thanks to the generosity of Sister Lauren and our supporters. ❤️Our students returned to school on May 25, with boarding students heading back on May 24. This term includes:📖 20 primary pupils🎓 16 secondary students🛠️ 2 vocational and college studentsFor many families, the beginning of a school term comes with difficult choices. School fees, transport, supplies, and healthcare expenses can be overwhelming. For single mothers like Mama Jane, it can mean choosing between paying rent and sending a child to school.But because of your support, these children have the chance to dream bigger.💭 Bonita (14) shares:"I want to make Sister Lauren proud. When I become a doctor, I will treat kids like me for free."💭 Patience (15) says:"Making charcoal taught me hard work. Now I want to work in a bank and keep mothers' money safe so no child gets chased from home."Education means more than attending class. History was made in Jacmel, Haiti.For the first time ever, a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics event took place on Haitian soil — organized entirely by students, attended by over 500 community members, and powered by years of determination, preparation, and belief in what Haitian youth can build.Five FTC teams competed. Three XRP teams participated. Every role — from field setup to match coordination — was filled by teenage volunteers who showed up and delivered.This is not just a recap of one event. It is the beginning of a national STEM movement.Team Haiti has competed at the FIRST Global Challenge in Singapore, Athens, and Panama. Now, we are building something at home — a sustainable, nationwide robotics league that will give hundreds of Haitian students each year access to world-class STEM education and international competition.The talent was always here. On 11th February 2026, we distributed educational supplies, hygiene products, and personal care essentials to children from the community we support in Uganda. ❤️A total of 31 children received support, including school bags, books, pens, pencils, paper, soap, toothbrushes, sanitary pads, detergent, buckets, and other important scholastic and daily necessities to help them prepare for school with greater confidence and dignity.Beyond the materials themselves, this initiative was about supporting children’s wellbeing, encouraging education, and reminding them that they are seen, valued, and supported.We are deeply grateful to everyone who continues to make initiatives like this possible and helps create brighter opportunities for the next generation. #Uganda #CommunitySupport #EducationForAll #ChildSupport #NGO #CommunityImpact #SchoolSupplies #EducationMatters #Africa #SupportChildren by @educarenow
