Graduated from @homeofperformancepractices at @artezuniversityofthearts

Two years of practice-based research led me to investigate my own dance practice through the lenses of access, labour and identity, and examine the institutional frameworks that structure Western European dance training.

Thanks to @pavloskountouriotis for believing in my work, the @homeofperformancepractices team, my cohort, and @doubleleapfrog #tonyeadams for their supervision and mentorship.

'Scores for Arrival (a process sharing)' an installation presented at @bearsinthe.park during the ATLAS showings @impulstanz_festival

Departing from the experience of being in a constant state of arrival, in a new city, in workshops, in theatres, in studios, and at parties, the scores were developed as a way of relating to a space before choreographic work begins.

Inspired by desire lines seen around Vienna, the drawings trace the body's pathway through the studio.

Reflecting on my ATLAS residency @impulstanz_festival

Five weeks of mentorship with @formedview who encouraged me to develop parts of my practice I hadn't explored yet. Workshops that expanded my understanding of what choreography can be. Performances which reminded me that the dancing body can be a powerful tool of resistance. And most of all, a cohort that showed me what solidarity between artists looks like in practice, not just as an abstract idea.

Forever grateful for this experience ❤️ taken in ImPulsTanz - Vienna International Dance Festival by @edwardlloyd_

teaser ‘at the edge of connection’

at the edge of connection is about the fragile boundary between a place and the self, and what happens when that boundary begins to dissolve.

In the choreographic sound installation, Clarinde explores how moving through the world is never a solitary act. Every step, every gesture, holds the potential to link bodies, individual and collective, into something larger than themselves. Connection is constantly being shaped, negotiated, and felt.

This time, the garden of Dat Bolwerck acts as an active force, a presence that performs alongside the bodies within it. The work emerges from this specific ground and its conditions.

What unfolds goes beyond movement through space. It becomes a continuous exchange between environment and self — a search for where one ends and the other begins. Knowing takes place through the body, in motion.

Last weekend, ‘at the edge of connection’ at @datbolwerck

Sounds recorded in the garden were returned through speakers into the same place, coexisting with sounds already present.

It remained unclear whether a sound came from the garden itself or from a recording. The performers listened and responded to both, finding their way through this unstable acoustic reality.

‘at the edge of connection’ at Dat Bolwerck is a new work by artist Clarinde Wesselink, which explores environmental sounds as external forces that act upon us, inviting us to rethink our relationship to (unseen) ecological, social, and technological systems.

The work encompasses a sound installation, a choreographic map, and performers who move through this soundscape, attuned and responsive to sound.

Described by Clarinde as a “present-day myth,” the audience follows the emergence of three figures moving through shifting sonic states. It is “set in a realm shaped by the time and space of sound, where there is no beginning or end, no inside or outside, only an incessant dance of two energies that meet, in which every moment is uncertain. We witness the performers’ attempts to exist, communicate, and escape a single state of consciousness. We see a dissolution of boundaries between inner and outer realms, and between living and non-living matter.”

Sound is the driving force in this work, unsettling fixed structures and opening a field of shifting states in which boundaries dissolve and multiple realities can coexist. Sound designer @massiftrophies experiments with methods to create a dense sonic experience.
