Today, I laid my father to rest.

I’m grateful for the man you became and for the countless lessons you taught me — both through your words and your example. My work ethic and my love for learning came from watching you, listening to you, and trying to follow your lead. That’s why I went back to school to earn those degrees. To make you proud.

I cherish the time we spent together in recent years. Even though many of those days were filled with doctor visits, they gave us something priceless — the chance to talk, to bond, and to reflect on good memories. I’ll always hold onto the moment when you told me my business acumen reminded you of your grandmother. That meant more to me than you probably knew.

My only regret is the Coltrane album I got you for Christmas. You asked if I wanted you to play it, and I said no because I was rushing to my next meeting. I wish I had canceled everything and simply sat with you. I didn’t know that just three weeks later, you would be gone. The lesson I learned is to be more present with family. Every meeting is not urgent.

Today and always, I will honor you by working hard, loving my family, and carrying forward the values you lived by.

Four years ago, this was just an idea.

Today, it’s real.

On August 2, the first location will officially go live on the Razored platform. We will begin to work on the transition from now to August 2nd. For all of our current customers, expect to receive an email from us this week on the transition.

This isn’t just a new POS system. It’s a platform built from years of listening to barbers, stylists, receptionists, shop owners, and customers. Every challenge, every suggestion, and every lesson helped shape what Razored has become.

Created by Edmund and Tracey Washington, but made better by the many professionals who trusted us, challenged us, and taught us this business along the way.

We’re incredibly grateful to No Grease! for providing the environment where we could learn, innovate, and prove what’s possible. Their impact on our journey will always be part of our story. More locations will be announced soon, and we expect Razored to be generally available to shops everywhere this September.

Thank you to everyone who believed in the vision before there was a product.

The journey is just getting started.

“Blood On the Campus Green” is set in 1968 Orangeburg, SC on the HBCU campus of South Carolina State College (now University). The lives of 3 teens were cut short with dozens more injured as they were peacefully protesting the illegal segregation of the local bowling alley.

With the true facts covered up to protect the status quo, the FBI JUST closed the case this year.🗂️📂

Co-Directors @edwash78 @digidreams.ig and Producer @victoriouscreates have been putting together for some years now.

Interviewed are survivors, families, current & past student leaders and artists who tell a story that is well known only by the most astute historians, alumni (like @kriskaylin) and those from this all but forgotten and certainly underserved community in the Low Country of SC

A few weeks ago I attended my wife @mscothinkk book signing for The ReSET. The food was amazing, the energy was incredible, but one question/exercised challenged me:

“If you left your old story behind tonight, what would the first chapter of your new one sound like?”

My story regarding this new business I started (Even Super Confident Edmund Washington)

“The world doesn’t need another barbering app. There are already bigger players. Investors aren’t interested. I’m too late.”

Those beliefs made me play small, stay quiet, and avoid rooms I needed to be in.

Today, my new chapter is called:

Built Different: Showing Up Anyway

I’m choosing visibility over doubt.
Action over fear.
Building over waiting.

Appreciate my wife @mscothinkk and all of my family for coming through last night. It was good to have my mom and sisters @prettynaturalgirl and @they_call_me_sha_sha_ there as I celebrated my official new year. As well as my bonus brother and sister @elohim_jamal and @j9inefit. I’m still getting use to my Dad not being here. For a split second earlier in the day I was going to call him-quickly realizing I can’t. Stay close to your family people.

I’m not really big on celebrating my birthday, but I do realize more than ever how important they are. Every year on this earth is a blessing. by @edwash78

Happy 50th birthday to my beautiful wife @mscothinkk ❤️

Fun fact — when you were born in 1976, a dozen eggs cost $0.80 and a loaf of bread was $0.35. Wish we could go back to those days… but we’ll take the memories 😄

You are truly an amazing soul. The way you’ve dedicated your life to community and family is something special. You’ve accomplished so much — a career in philanthropy, building one of the few giving circles in Asheville, a two-time (and best-selling) author, business owner, TED Talk speaker… and still show up as an incredible wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt to so many.

But beyond all of that — you’re just dope. Playful, loving, and real.

I pray for you every day. And I pray this next chapter gives you space to reflect on your first amazing 50 years — and even more time to pour into yourself, beyond work and responsibilities.

I’m grateful we get to do life together and experience new things side by side.

My mother said she was 28 today. That means my brother Jirard is 11, my sister Charlene is 7, I’m 2, my brother Logan is in her stomach, and my sister Siobhan is not even born yet. I don’t know about my siblings, but I would go back to 2 to delay being an adult just a little while longer. Happy birthday to the greatest Mom ever aka Mel. by @edwash78

Today we had our first Washington Family Meeting at a Co Working Space in Huntersville. We discussed our businesses in depth and educational/athletic goals for Caleb.
