POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
FRIDAY 6/26 the latest mutation of my song music which I’m calling FOGARTY FIELDS FOREVER (to fit in with the other bands on the bill) will be making its debut at Sleepwalk alongside @fieldguides and @tremolofields playing mostly new songs I’ve written in the last couple of months.

Please enjoy this rehearsal clip of a brand new tune wherein my enthusiasm for playing the guitar overwhelms me and I am ashamed, only to be dually reassured by my trusty bandmates. Are they correct? Is corny actually iconic? Sound off in the comments 🥩🎸 by @eeaammoonn

Here’s a bit of “limbs,” a track from I’m an animal now that I’m pretty sure I’ve never played live… certainly never with anybody singing the harmony part! But it WILL be sung live, (and how!) on Saturday Feb 7th with @reverbcowgirl at @cassettenyc . This will be a HARMONY HEAVY set of my most languid and incidentally anticlerical tunes that have heretofore not been performed in their full glory because the songs I write are a bit on the squirrely side… but nothing is too squirrely for my fellow ex-chorister Geo. This one is NOT TO BE MISSED. MARK THY CAL. #agoodaltoishardtofind by @eeaammoonn

Howdy folks. This Sunday @reverbcowgirl and I are playing a very cozy little EARLY house show in Flatbush with our pals @no_lands and @mollykerker !! We can be heard here working out some kinks on my newish tune “true enemies” based on the subtlety contrapuntal harmony line that @catwatercow pulled out of the ether maybe the second time we tried it… DM me if you want to come to the show. Space is super limited!! by @eeaammoonn

You may have heard that the current regime is attempting to build a wall on our southern border, and that said wall is slated to pass through a number of conservation areas including Big Bend. Some friends of mine in Texas decided put together a compilation to sound the alarm and raise funds for organizing around the situation, and asked me to contribute a track.

As @littlemazarn wrote in their newsletter this morning:
“This spring, I got together with my friends Bill Baird and Trevor Reichman to record some songs we wrote in response to the overwhelming feelings of grief and anger we share about the potential loss of this dear place. It was very healing. I thought maybe we could share the music we made and help raise awareness about what was happening. The more I talked about, the more people offered to contribute a song to the project. The result comes out today, a compilation called ‘Sing Across the Borderline’ benefitting the Big Bend Conservation Alliance with contributions from over 40 artists!  It is beautiful, joyous, deep heart food music and I adore every track. I hope you take a listen. It will get you to Santa Elena from I-10 if you start track 1 at Ft. Stockton.”

I contributed a demo of a NEW new song called « True Enemies » that felt appropriate to the task at hand. I’m in VERY good company on this comp which also features contributions from such homies/luminaries as Creekbed Carter, Thor Harris, Nicole Hale, hemlock, Styrofoam Winos, and many many more. Give it a listen, and purchase of you can. First slide is from a trip @beccaworby and I took to Big Bend back when we still lived in Austin. Second slide is a preview of my contribution. 💿📀💿📀💿📀💿📀 by @eeaammoonn

RED HOT GIGUE ALERTE! Please join me 8/28 (it’s a Friday!) for an evening of music curated by yours truly at DADA @dadabarnyc in ridgewood. I first encountered the music of @beetsblog_ at a show in the basement of the incredible feminist bookstore Bookends in Florence, MA where I was blown away by both the quality of the melodies and the delicate balance of careful arrangement and improvisational looseness with which the assembled musicians brought the songs to life. Funnily enough, I also first encountered the music of Sophia Pastorius-Young @catwatercow in a basement (this one in Bushwick) having ventured out for the first time since the birth of my son to catch the set of a different musician friend from Western MA (fellow Prefab Sprout-head Jack Alboher.) Sophia has one of those rare voices that immediately focuses the energy of a room, and draws people out of their own little worlds and into a different one, immediate, communal, and conjured right there in the moment. Seance-music par excellence.

For this show, I will be joined by @davidball13 on Drums, @paulpanditmusic on upright bass, and the aforementioned Sophia P-Y singing harmonies. taken in DADA NYC by @eeaammoonn

STOP RIGHT THERE! On Monday July 27th my dear friends and erstwhile comrades in shred @benjamin_dubenjamin and @specificthing are coming to Brooklyn to play a very special song recital in Gowanus with yours truly and the wonderful @adam_amram .

Slide through to see

3: a black lodge style animation I made for grad school using crude camera based motion capture that didn’t really work, soundtracked by @catwatercow and I singing a tune called “33” that will be sung at the show (In the mocap video, I was dancing to the Dancing Queen 45 slowed down to 33rpm)

Slides 4 & 5 bonus nostalgiaposting from March 2024 when I returned to Austin and reunited with my old band including Ben, who can be heard shredding here on Camera Man and The Sky (To A Bird) by @eeaammoonn

TONIGHT @reverbcowgirl and I will be singing songs at @alphavillebk alongside inveterate heartstring pluckers @relativesmusic and the inimitable @ppaannkkeenn . We’ll be doing the “classics” and debuting a new song (maybe the first singalong I’ve ever written?) which was directly inspired by seeing Dan and Peggy Reeder at LPR last month. I LOVE MUSIC!!!!!!!! by @eeaammoonn

My friend @specificthing recently asked me how I practice guitar, and I thought I might share a little bit of the answer, which is basically that I pick up a guitar whenever I’ve become obsessed with a piece of music I can’t pick up by ear. This is a recent example: “Yes yes yes” by the eternal, immortal @nrbqheadquarters

A peek behind the curtain. Someday I may delete all of these forward facing cover videos and go back to being mysterious but in the words of Saint Augustine, “not yet.” by @eeaammoonn
