POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Hi 👋🏻 I’m Emily, and for those of you that are new here, let me reintroduce myself!

• I’m the artist behind E.E. Brown Leatherworks, a Nashville-based studio specializing in fine leather wall art and sculptural décor.

• My relationship with leather started at 13, crafting my first handbag. By 2011, I’d launched my first leather goods brand and became the youngest artist to exhibit at the Geneva Fine Arts Festival in Illinois.

• Since founding E.E. Brown in 2021, my work has evolved from wearable pieces into large-scale, architecturally-influenced installations — and I’ve had the privilege of bringing that vision to incredible spaces and brands, including a commissioned piece for Ford Motor Co.’s Engineering Lab, retail installations with Birkenstock and VINCE, work with PwC, and a leather frame install for the Westin Nashville Hotel.

• Things I’m excited about in 2026: a piece crafted from recycled Southwest Airlines airplane leather debuts at the Lane Motor Museum on July 16th, and later this year I’ll be launching my first lighting collection — “TuscaLume,” a lampshade in leather and metal, and “Colonna,” a floor lamp in leather and hardwood.

• Projects I’d love to be commissioned for this year: a full-wall installation (I have no shortage of ideas here), molded leather designs taken to a larger architectural scale — utilizing my vacuum press to its full capabilities — and a piece for the new Southwest BNA lounge, crafted from their own recycled leather (crossing my fingers here 🤞🏻).

• My favorite part of any commission is the brainstorming and design stage — figuring out, together, how a brand’s story or a space’s character can come through in leather.

If you’re looking for a custom piece, repping a brand that wants something unforgettable for your space, or know someone who is, I’d love to talk. Send me a message here or through the contact page on my website. Always taking referrals and new projects. 🤍

Advice needed:
👋🏻 At what point did you start making things official and legal — contracts, partnership agreements, putting commitments in writing? I’m at the stage where a handshake and good intentions aren’t enough anymore, and I’d love to hear when you knew it was time. What do you wish you’d put in writing sooner?

Come along with me to hang my leather wrapped pastries piece in its new home 🏠!

I’m thrilled that my friends, the owners of Oui Oui, loved the piece as much as I do!

If you’re in the Chattanooga area, please do yourself a favor and try their delicious baked goods! You won’t regret it! 🥐 🇫🇷

It’s hard to capture the dynamics of lamb skin on camera, which means my work never fully translates online. Some might see that as a drawback. I see it as a gift.

My commissions already carry a bit of mystery, and this adds another layer on top. The payoff is always the same: my clients are amazed when they finally see a piece in person, in its true form.

That’s what makes me so excited to do what I do, and to work with a material that’s always changing.

Anyways, leather rocks! taken in Oui Oui Boulangerie by @eebrownleatherworks

This piece turned out better than I had expected, despite one minor (actually huge) mistake!!

I am so proud of my friend Johann and his family for doing what some people only dream of doing: starting their own business and living the American Dream! He successfully opened up a French bakery 🥐 in the Chattanooga, TN area called @ouiouiboulangerie_ and they are thriving! I cannot wait to experience his dream myself when I go down to deliver this bad boy!

Yesterday I told you the story behind option 1. Today, option 2.

Where the Bloom Begins is personal.

Travel has always been the thing that awakened me: to the world, to perspectives I’d never considered, to versions of myself I hadn’t met yet. Every flight, every new place, planted something. The growth never happened where I was comfortable; it began the moment I left, the moment I was somewhere unfamiliar enough to really see.

These seats carried thousands of people toward their own awakenings. That’s where the bloom begins - not at the destination, but in the leaving.

So now you’ve heard both stories. ❤️💙💛

1️⃣ LUV in Bloom

2️⃣ Where the Bloom Begins

Last chance to vote before I reveal her name ahead of the @lanemuseum exhibit opening July 16th. Drop your pick below. ⬇️

Getting closer… and I need YOUR help. ❤️💛💙

As I shared in my last post, this piece will be on display when the exhibit opens at @lanemuseum on July 16th — hand-crafted entirely from recycled leather sourced from @SouthwestAirlines airplane seats through their Repurpose with Purpose program (with a huge shoutout to @turnipgreencreativereuse for making it all happen). ✈️

Now it’s time to give her a name and I’ve narrowed it down to two:

1️⃣ LUV in Bloom

2️⃣ Where the Bloom Begins

Here’s a little history behind option 1: Southwest Airlines has traded on the NYSE under the ticker symbol LUV since 1977 - a nod to their original home at Love Field in Dallas, Texas, where they launched their very first flights. Love Field was named after Lt. Moss Lee Love, a U.S. Army aviator, and Southwest leaned all the way into that identity. Their planes wear a heart. Their headquarters is called “Love Field.” LUV isn’t just a ticker — it’s the entire soul of the brand.

So when I think about leather from those seats being reborn as something beautiful and alive… LUV in Bloom feels like the story continuing.

But option 2 — Where the Bloom Begins - that one’s personal. And the story behind it deserves its own post. Come back tomorrow. 🌱

Start dropping your votes below — 1️⃣ or 2️⃣ — and tell me why if you’re feeling it.

Excited to share my latest creation, coming to @lanemuseum on July 16th! 🌿

This piece is crafted from recycled leather sourced from @SouthwestAirlines airplane seats through their Repurpose with Purpose program. A huge thanks to Turnip Green Creative Reuse @turnipgreencreativereuse for making this collaboration possible. There’s beauty in giving materials a second life - and a whole new purpose.

Vegetable tanned leather has always been the standard for molding and holding shape; it’s predictable, firm, and made for it. But I’ve always been more interested in seeing how far I can push materials that aren’t supposed to behave that way.

I’ve always experimented with molding chrome tanned leather instead. I can’t follow the same type of process you would with vegetable tanned, especially when it comes to wet molding, which forces me to approach shaping in a completely different way.

What I’ve found is that thinner leathers, especially lambskin, actually hold form surprisingly well when combined with glue and the right process.

A big part of craftsmanship, for me, is questioning what a material is “supposed” to do.
