Stories have the power to change the way we see epilepsy.

EFEPA and Paul’s Purple Warriors were proud to bring our community together in Philadelphia for a special screening of Under the Lights, an opportunity to see an authentic epilepsy story represented on screen and continue an important conversation about the realities and stigma surrounding epilepsy.

We were especially honored to welcome filmmaker Miles Levin and lead actor Pearce Joza, who joined us in person for conversation following the film and signed a poster for every attendee.

And events like this are only possible because others believe in the importance of bringing these stories and conversations to our community.

Walk for Epilepsy NEPA

Rain couldn’t stop our community.

More than 150 people joined us at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre for our Walk for Epilepsy – NEPA, and what a beautiful reminder it was of the strength of this community.
-We walked to raise awareness.
-We walked for those living with epilepsy.
-We walked alongside families, caregivers and friends.
-We walked in remembrance of those we have lost.
-And we walked to remind one another that no one walks alone.

To every walker, team captain, volunteer, donor, sponsor, committee member and community partner who showed up, rain and all, thank you. You made this day possible. This past Monday, our Director of the Northeast Region, Mary Loughlin, presented a Seizure Recognition and First Aid Training at the 5th Annual Community Health Worker Conference at Penn State!

Following the training, many attendees shared how much they had learned, and several spoke about their personal connections to epilepsy, whether through a friend or family member living with the condition.

These conversations remind us just how important epilepsy education is. Knowledge is power, and education saves lives! We are proud to continue providing trainings and raising awareness in our communities to ensure that more people are educated about epilepsy.
