Dear God… Where do I start. For as long as I can remember you’ve given me this game of football. I’ve given my all to it. All of me. You have made me who I am through the game of Football. You used it to build me, break me, lift me up, humble me, bless me and SPEAK to me. You showed me my purpose through the Game. But Most importantly…You called me to Yourself through the Game. Anyone that knows my story from the beginning knows I was never supposed to go as far as I did. But what God has taught me , and what I believe He’s speaking to YOU— is that what’s “Supposed to be” and what’s “Not Supposed to be” are not always real… The only thing that is SUPPOSED to be is what HE has said is supposed to be. THAT’S what matters. Despite what ANYONE ELSE said about what I was supposed to do— GOD said: That a 145 pound—undersized kid who only played 9 varsity games in high school was SUPPOSED to walk-on at Abilene Christian and was SUPPOSED to not get any real playing time for FOUR years. Then afterwards… He was SUPPOSED to become a Team Captain, The Defensive Scholar-athlete of the year, A National Student-Athlete of the year finalist, an FCS All-Star team selection, the Brand Ambassador of a National Bank (shoutout First Financial), Get his own sandwich named after him (shame on you if you didn’t get the Egbo Sandwich), A national representative for the Western Athletic conference and ACU, speak and advocate for Student-Athletes in front of congress, and testify in national court cases for hundreds of thousands of Student-Athletes. That’s what was supposed to happen. And it’s Not because anyone told me it should happen. if I listened to what was “supposed” to happen I would’ve went D3. When I say “Don’t Limit God” I’m reminding myself to let God be God. It’s three words that focus on having the Faith that He really is God and so deciding to not put any barriers on what He’s capable of doing FOR YOU. My only hope. My deep and earnest prayer is that when you see this story… that when you see me, it will inspire you to start listening to what God is SAYING—to what God is speaking… That it will inspire you to not limit God. - ACE #4 taken in Abilene Christian University by @egbojr__

Earlier this week I got the Opportunity to represent Division 1 Student-Athletes in front of Congress, testifying to protect NIL rights and ensure access to opportunities for Student-Athletes across the country— especially those competing at non-Power 5 schools or playing in non-revenue generating sports. The beauty of it is I got to tell My Story. The Story of God gifting me an opportunity to play the game I love at this level, and how it has lead to the life-transforming experiences I’ve had in both my life and career. I had the chance to advocate for why that opportunity should be protected, enhanced and continually provided for the hundreds of thousands of Student-Athletes across the country. College Athletics is for us. The last 2.5 years of my life have forever changed me. 2.5 years ago… - I wasn’t even on scholarship… still was a walk-on - I could count the number of snaps of football I’d played. - I thought I was done with school and ball. But let me tell you this… Everything God has given me and done for me in the last 2.5 years is everything I ever need to know about His Faithfulness.
