our thesis show, Soft Landing, is up through May 11th at 205 Hudson Gallery. thank you to everyone who came to the opening, on view is my latest installation:

make sense of us, 2025

cycles of past encounters with digital co-performers merge as text documents, instructions, archives + scores to form a collision of the script + the non-script.

in blue are chat logs of conversations I had with a computer during my series of performances, "make sense of things." some of what I said had not been transcribed by the computer — it had been redacted. through removal, its responses are given precedence in our archive of what happened between us. in red, are commands I wrote for a computer voice to give me during my performance, "the stripes don’t wash off." these documents, or pages, resemble flags. we can move them + move through them. a script is a blueprint to be replicated and reenacted. a non-script offers potentiality for something else, but here it only reiterates ideologies — scripts — that are already in place. the computer is following its design. this moment we're experiencing is not a glitch, it is part of the programming.

on the floor is an automated vacuum cleaner — adorned with american flag pants I've worn when performing. as it erases matter on the floor, it becomes more dirty + battered — bumping into walls, getting entangled. it cannot sustain itself. we can take solace in knowing it won’t. we have to go off-script if we want to get there sooner. by @ehabib.e

e2how2 (make a performance), 2024

a junction somewhere between performance + performing for the camera, e2how2 explores the body as a site of objectification and spectacle for viewers to witness + to document. in this scenario, I assume the role of a performer following the instruction of a digital reproduction of themselves in the guise of a video call. the performer's digital duplicate provides the steps for the performance to materialize — placing a high priority on having each action abundantly photographed. the performer is asked to put themselves in compromising positions for each shot.

while the performer searches the sand for something they are told holds some importance to the piece, the digital alternate routinely tells them to arch their back while facing the camera. the performer is also tasked with several dance numbers to put on for the viewers present. the piece dissolves on itself — unraveling into a conflict of interest, an argument, a photoshoot, a stunt show for posting on social media.

baby, 2024

semi-transparent EVA sheet, worn clothing, sunshine

baby is a light activated sculpture. each day, baby will softly radiate with colors from my clothes when sunlight enters this corner of my studio — but only briefly. a mix between a sundial, a washing machine, a viewfinder, a translucent jellyfish, a reminder to pause, to wait, to witness, + to cherish — baby is a daily exercise in ephemerality: its delicate glow is something i either witness in a short window of time, or i miss it.

as i meditate on loss, baby is a teacher in accepting that i can't be there for all of its moments, but i can treasure each that i observe. by @ehabib.e

maintenance methods, 2024

a performance interested in group sustained power dynamics, compliance, action, inaction, and how an action begins another — maintenance methods provides audiences with a space to intervene, though each group is instructed not to.

the piece ends when either the performer frees themselves from being strapped to the chair, or if an audience member steps in to assist. the performer is an unreliable collaborator: begging audiences for help and to trust them, while oscillating between multiple voice registers and personalities that suddenly break into song, yell, laugh, and provoke. the performer is also fixated on insisting others join them in whistling a tune, hoping to indoctrinate some belief that doing so will aid in resolving the scenario.

group 1 was unanimous in maintaining their contract with the instructions to not intervene. group 2 opted to step in not long after the scenario began.

action + inaction are group activities.
