EILERS Dance Theatre was built from longing, imagination, survival, joy, collaboration, and a belief that art can create new ways of being together. This season we are launching our FRESH FUND campaign in partnership with Chimera Dance Theatre to support queer and trans-centred creation, touring, youth programming, workshops, and accessible community initiatives. Your support helps sustain artists, create affirming spaces for children and youth, and expand bold interdisciplinary performance grounded in queer and trans lived experience. From Fancy Cat to TRANScendARTS, from Queer Conscious Moving Bodies to Boy Q, we are building spaces for curiosity, connection, embodiment, and possibility. This is more than fundraising. It is an investment in futures where many bodies, stories, and ways of being are welcomed, celebrated, and visible. This is only the beginning. KISS THE STORMY SKY | TORONTO & MONTRÉAL This November, EILERS Dance Theatre presents Kiss The Stormy Sky in Toronto and Montréal, with two performances as part of OFF-CINARS 2026. A solo dance-theatre work, Kiss The Stormy Sky journeys through the intersections of personal and ancestral memory, gender, desire, and transformation. Moving between contemporary dance, drag, burlesque, and theatrical storytelling, a trans body becomes a living archive, tracing histories that extend from the Russian Revolution through World War II, MeToo and into the present. An intimate and visceral exploration of inheritance, identity, and the extraordinary capacity of the body to hold, resist, and reimagine history. BOY Q: Negotiations in Flesh and Rubber Our residency with RedSapata in Linz, Austria, offered us the space to dive deeply into Shakespeare’s As You Like It, the construction and deconstruction of drag personas, and conversations about what it means to be queer, to love queerly, and to live beyond the expectations placed upon our bodies and relationships. At the heart of Boy Q is an ongoing inquiry: What do we truly desire? Who do we love? What do we actually like? Not what culture tells us to want. Not what is currently fashionable, acceptable, or expected. But what we discover when we give ourselves permission to question, play, contradict, surrender, and become. Through movement, character, conversation, and experimentation, we are investigating how we might redefine friendship, intimacy, love, and relationship on our own terms. This first showing was not about arriving at answers. It was about opening possibilities, discovering new questions, and allowing the work to reveal what it wants to become. An enormous thank you to RedSapata for welcoming us into your artistic community and providing the time, space, and support to begin this exploration. This is only the beginning. BOY Q: Negotiations in Flesh and Rubber A few glimpses from our residency showing at Sonnenstein Loft in Linz. Bodies trying on roles. Desire becoming visible. Gender becoming slippery. Tenderness, bravado, longing, absurdity, surrender. Over two weeks at RedSapata, we followed the question: How do we discover what we actually want when so much has already been decided for us? This was not an ending. It was a first public encounter with a work that is still transforming. Thank you to everyone who came into the room with us. 🖤 Special thanks to @missfelidae_illustration for the clips. Tonight (Oct. 4, 2026) at 18:00 in Linz, Austria at RedSapata ✨ Join EILERS Dance Theatre at Sonnenstein Loft for a residency showing of Boy Q: Negotiations in Flesh, collaboratively created during our time at RedSapata in Linz. With Chase Lo, Eric Hall, Kaela Willey and Vincent Enorme, we are exploring flesh, desire, surrender and longing. Queerness, gender expansion and play move through our bodies as we ask: What becomes possible when we give ourselves permission to want, to transform, to be surprised? Come share this moment of becoming with us. Our process begins with curiosity, longing, surrender and hunger. A question, an impulse, something the body knows before we have language for it. Making Boy Q: Negotiations in Flesh and Rubber at RedSapata in Linz, we are moving between Shakespeare, drag, desire, and our own experiences of becoming. Trying on roles. Exaggerating them. Feeling where they fit, where they restrict us, and what becomes possible when we move beyond them. I (Sid) bring ideas into the room, and these artists bring whole worlds. Their humour, instincts, precision, tenderness, and willingness to explore shape the work with every rehearsal. I am continually moved by how fully they inhabit their own power while making space for one another. These portraits hold something of the people I get to create alongside. Beautiful, complex, generous humans, each with their own poetry. What if your grant isn’t the problem? I’ve sat on grant juries and read application after application for projects that were beautiful, necessary, thoughtful and absolutely fundable. And there still wasn’t enough money. That changes the question for me. Yes, I want artists to become excellent grant writers. I want us to understand the systems we are navigating, articulate our work powerfully, build strong budgets, ask for what we actually need, and stop making ourselves smaller in applications. But I also want us to ask bigger questions. What would an arts ecology look like where excellent work could actually be resourced? What happens when artists see ourselves not only as applicants, but as jurors, advocates, employers, organizers, board members, entrepreneurs and cultural leaders? What relationships can we build? What conversations can we enter? What structures can we influence? What resources exist beyond the grant portal? And what might we build that doesn’t exist yet? Scarcity may describe the current funding envelope. It does not have to describe our imagination. That is the thinking behind GrantLab: Resourcing Artistic Capacity. Yes, we are going to get very good at grants. And then we’re going further. Part 1: Fall 2026
Building the Application: Vision, Structure & Submission Part 2: Winter 2027
Building the Career: Sustainability, Relationships & Growth Applications due October 6. Come build what’s next with us. by @eilers.dance.theatre
Week one of EILERS Dance Theatre’s residency at RedSapata. Far from home, in Linz, we are making Boy Q: Negotiations in Flesh and Rubber. “All the world’s a stage.” But what happens when the role you’re handed doesn’t fit? As queer folks, we’re asking: How do we discover what we desire, what makes us feel alive, beneath all the expectations of who we’re supposed to be? This week, we’ve asked our bodies. We’ve followed impulses into laughter, tenderness, ridiculousness, sweat, and sore muscles. Somewhere in all that movement, we are finding the particular magic of making our own way together.
