My sweet youngest child who loses hoodies like he loses dead skin cells has misplaced his white Texas Longhorns hoodie. I’m willing to bet it’ll be the only one of its kind in the Raleigh Elementary lost and found. This situation has since translated into a disturbing dream I had where people were selling lost clothing acquired from schools on Vinted, cashing in on the absentmindedness and reckless abandon of pre-pubescent children. With the best of my firm parenting ability, I told him in future, any outerwear he takes to school will come from the $5 bin at the Raleigh Piggly Wiggly. by @ejamesnaturopathy

I’m all about a stay-cation!! by @ejamesnaturopathy

Blueberries are in the ground! We opted for 10 instead of 12. I think that’ll be plenty. 😉 Plum and apple trees will be planted in late winter, followed by blackberries. I’m propagating other plants, hopefully this spring they’ll be ready to set out — that is, if they survive and I did it correctly. The mulberry trees I’m propagating look pretty good! 🙏🏼 by @ejamesnaturopathy

The house plan is on its way (FINALLY lol), and to celebrate, I wanted to hang out with the coolest folks I know. 🥰 We are prepping the ground for a dozen blueberry bushes, with thoughts of all the summers to come. 🙏🏼 🫐 by @ejamesnaturopathy

Nolan Travis! 🥹 My heart wasn’t ready to see him looking so big. This year’s school pic hit different 😭 by @ejamesnaturopathy

We’ve gone through THOUSANDS of house plans… this is practically the most difficult thing I’ve had to do and I’ve had to do lots of difficult things. But anyway…. You savvy folks out there please take a look at these two floor plans. They’re both great and what we’re looking for, the right square footage, bla bla bla. Help me see some things that I may not be seeing and give your input. The first plan, I love the exterior more. The second… it has a larger living room. 🤪 by @ejamesnaturopathy

What a way to celebrate the first day of fall! 🍂

Culvert in — the way to the James future home place is open! 😊 Thank you, Beat 2! by @ejamesnaturopathy

This is our next book club read! If you’re interested in joining, get yourself a copy and join our second meeting, which will be sometime in mid-October. Message me, and I’ll add you to the group! by @ejamesnaturopathy

We are tractor shopping! If you know anyone that’s selling or considering selling a tractor, please holler at us! We’re watching Marketplace also. 🚜 🚜 🚜 (pic of some end-of-season peas for attention 😆) by @ejamesnaturopathy

I put videos of these two beauties in my stories, but I just had to make a post. I happened to look out the window and I saw this male summer tanager in the holly tree. I went looking for the female and she was right outside the door, a few feet from where the male was perched.

The summer tanager is North America’s only completely red bird. They’re known for catching wasps and bees in midair and they also break into wasp nests and eat the larvae. So right now, they’re feeding heavily to gear up for their migration to Central and South America 🥹 by @ejamesnaturopathy

I spent the weekend quietly simmering 😤 over a comment that was made about me to my husband. We were standing in a gravel driveway chatting with a man that doesn’t know us very well, so I’m just going to leave it at that. I got an ant bite on my ankle, looked down, didn’t see an ant bed or anything or more ants since they were cleverly hiding beneath the gravel, brushed off what few ants I could see on my shoes and continued listening intently to the conversation. After my second ant bite, this man questioned why I didn’t change location and said to Billy, “I married one of those. Real cute but not real smart.”

The comment worked its way deep into my sensitive little heart and all sorts of issues came rising to the surface. That’s the type of person I have always been — my mom used to say I had a “chicken heart.” I wondered what sort of universe this man lives in that could make him think a comment like that is acceptable or if he thought my husband would actually agree with him—that the person he waited 36 years to marry was… not real smart. I also thought what his wife might think of that statement or if she’s comfortable spending her life with someone who thinks she’s dumb, as long as he finds her physically attractive.

Of course, after the fact, I was kicking myself for not having a killer response that would have left him in a pile of smoldering ashes. Maybe 15 years ago, I would have, back when my tongue was a lot sharper and I didn’t have the strength and reserve I’ve developed since. Thankfully my husband knows who he married and he would never say things like that to me or other women. The experience left me with more gratitude and discernment and that makes me incredibly happy. ✌🏼 by @ejamesnaturopathy
