After years of working with everyone from everyday gym-goers to professional athletes, these are a few things I’ll always stand by.

1. Your body needs to be challenged to adapt.

2. Hands-on treatment is great, but it shouldn’t be your only solution.

3. Pain doesn’t always mean damage, and being pain-free doesn’t always mean you’re fully recovered.

4. Getting stronger is one of the best things you can do to reduce your risk of injury.

5. Rehab should get harder over time. If you’re doing the same exercises 12 weeks later, we need to ask why.

6. Rest is almost never the answer. Sometimes the right amount of movement is exactly what you need.

7. You don’t need to be injured to benefit from treatment. Looking after your body shouldn’t start when something goes wrong.

8. Feeling better is one thing. Building the capacity to stay better is another.

9. Your body is designed to handle stress. We should be building its ability to tolerate more, not teaching it to avoid everything.

I’m a big believer in hands-on treatment. It’s what I’ve built a career around. But I’m an even bigger believer in giving people the tools, confidence and physical capacity to keep doing the things they love. by @ejayyph

5 things I believe every therapist should be doing 👇

1. Focus on outcomes, not just injuries. Understand what your client actually wants to achieve.

2. Educate, don’t just treat. Set realistic expectations around recovery and soft tissue healing timelines.

3. Create small wins. Demonstrate improvements in strength, mobility and confidence.

4. Give clients a roadmap. Set clear goals, explain the process and regularly reassess so theirs no guessing the next step.

5. Practise what you preach. Lead by example, keep learning and apply what you teach.

The goal isn’t to create dependency. It’s to build trust through better outcomes.

For those who don’t know me, I’m EJ, Principal Myotherapist and founder of RGNR8 RCVRY.

I’ve spent over 10 years working in elite sport, helping professional athletes perform, recover and return to competition.

Now I’m focused on bringing those same standards into private practice and helping raise the standard of care across our industry. by @ejayyph

Neck feeling stiff? Shoulders always tight? Struggling to turn your head comfortably? Giving you headaches

Here are 3 things worth doing to be proactive

1️⃣ Treatment – Help reduce tension, improve mobility and get things moving more comfortably.

2️⃣ Exercise – Improve strength, mobility and control so your body can better handle what you’re putting it through.

3️⃣ Hydration – Overlooked, but important for normal muscle function and recovery.

There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, and that’s why we assess first.

Understanding what’s contributing to the problem helps us work out what you actually need, rather than just chasing the tightness.

Less guessing, more purpose behind what we do.

Throwback to a pretty cool opportunity treating Rhea Ripley while WWE were in Melbourne last year🇦🇺

As a therapist, I don’t think the trust side of what we do ever gets old.

Whether it’s an athlete preparing for a match, a game, a fight, a comp or someone just trying to get through their normal week.

They’re trusting you with their body and trusting that you can help them perform.

I’ve been lucky enough over the years to work with athletes across a lot of different sports and at some pretty high levels, and I never take that for granted.

Rhea was an absolute legend. Humble, easy to work with and a great person.

Really cool experience helping her get ready to do what she does best. 🤝

Big muscles still need options.

When I treat bodybuilders. I’m not just working on whatever feels “tight”.

There’s usually a reason we target certain areas.

1. Lats → shoulders
Big, tight lats can pull the shoulder forward and make it harder to move freely. Creating some space here can take pressure off the shoulder and make overhead movement and posing positions easier.

2. Hip flexors → hips & lower back
Heavy training, lots of muscle and posing can create a heap of tension through the front of the hips. Improving movement here can help the hips extend better without the lower back having to do all the work.

3. Lats + hips → rotation
Your upper body, trunk and hips are designed to move together. If one area isn’t moving well, another area usually has to pick up the slack.

For bodybuilding, that can affect posing and how you move under load. For everyone else, it’s simply part of moving better.

The goal isn’t to make everything loose.

It’s to give the body more options and make sure it can control them.

Treat what’s limiting the movement and not just what’s sore. by @ejayyph
