Tuning up Time Warp. I have no idea how Dad looks at all these wires and parts, and somehow figures out the one tiny loose connection that hiding in the rat nest of wires. Legit CRAZY. 🤯 by @eklaszus

Training for the apocalypse, I guess. Can someone remind me why food and gas prices are absolutely soul-crushing these days? God damn. How much more are we expected to take?! by @eklaszus

Some of the oldest trees here might have been seedlings 500 years ago. I often wonder how a view like this might look differently 500 years from now. by @eklaszus

Last night at the @calgaryrasc Wilson Coulee Observatory, we turned the big scope to the supernova SN 2026aaiv (marked with red half-cross) in NGC 7331. A fantastic view of this incredibly bright exploding star that is some 45 million light years away. This might very well be the furthest single star I’ve seen with my own eyes. I can’t even begin to imagine the amount of energy that this thing gave off to become so bright so as to be seen so clearly from such an impossible distance. Quite common to see galaxies at that distance, but not singular stars within those galaxies!

This was a relatively quick photo, just 46 minutes through the C14.

The fainter groups of tiny galaxies to the right of NGC 7331 are six times further away, around 300 million light years from us. That’s a lot of space. ✨😭

Third photo is an oldie - similar vibes in the dome, just forgot to take shots in the dome night! by @eklaszus

Couldn’t stop the kids from climbing and the parents from collecting bugs this weekend. Wait no, it was the other way around. And then straight back to school today!

It was maximum joy day at Louise yesterday with several friends from @csmc_yyc who spontaneously joined! So great climbing with you all, braving the cold temps and pulling hard! @trikem @richnorton @kdtranter @shellyyin @jacksonbodtker So grateful for every minute spent out there. They never last long enough. by @eklaszus
