The 3rd Macau International Children’s Arts Festival, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, bringing children and families closer to the arts through a diverse range of cultural and artistic activities. The festival’s highlight exhibitions, “Echo the Wind Wanderer,” were grandly unveiled today (July 26) at the Macau Art Museum and the Golden Lion Lobby of MGM Cotai. The MGM Cotai exhibition area, titled “Wanderer of Parallel Worlds” introduces visitors to the creative process, allowing them to trace the origins of the works, witness the city being reimagined, and explore the parallel universe formed by the giant Ekokaxi’s figures. To enrich the exhibition experience, visitors who tour both exhibition areas and collect all the exclusive stamps from the “Hand-in-Hand Stamp Rally” can enter a raffle for a chance to win plush toys from the “Wanderer of Parallel Worlds” series or specially designed exhibition stickers. The children’s art exhibition “Echo the Wind Wanderer” is co-organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and MGM and runs from July 26 to October 11.

The 3rd Macau International Children’s Arts Festival features artist Ekokaxi Wang, who specializes in creating immersive, interactive art experiences and uses everyday materials to build whimsical and charming worlds where the “inner child” can explore freely. “Echo” serving as the guide, is a figure that straddles the line between the artist’s self-projection and a fairy-tale character, leading viewers to participate with both body and mind—through touch, play, misinterpretation, imagination, and action—to collectively build Echo’s fantastical realm. This exhibition spans two exhibition spaces: the Macao Museum of Art and the Golden Lion Lobby at MGM Cotai. I will be bringing a workshop to Macao rooted in my research on Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) and “Tactile Play Art Intervention,” exploring the relationship between touch, play, bodily memory, and emotion through theory, artistic examples, and hands-on creation.

My own artistic practice grows from intuition, playful exploration, and research—this process also gave birth to Echo the Wind Wanderer. In the workshop, I will invite participants to work with tactile materials such as clay, fabrics, plush textiles, and wire, drawing from childhood toys and tactile memories to translate these experiences into concrete or abstract artistic forms.

This workshop is not about perfect technique or polished results. Instead, I hope to create a welcoming and safe space for free exploration, sensory discovery, and personal connection—where we can touch, play, and create, and explore how art can open paths to self-understanding beyond words.

Ekokaxi✖️Beijing 798 International Youth Week
Very honored to bring my new work “Balance Practice” to 798 Art district and seeing how children are enjoying it.
”Balance Practice“ Artwork Analysis:
Dimensions: 4m × 4m × 1.7m
Materials: Stainless steel, paint
Year: September 2026

”Balance Practice“ is an interactive installation for four participants. Based on the seesaw, it expands the simple two-person weight relationship into a dynamic system involving four people.

When participants enter, one person’s movement, pause, exertion, or departure changes the positions of others. Balance is no longer a stable state, but a continuous process of negotiation. Participants must constantly sense their own bodies as well as others‘ weight, movements, and rhythms: when one rises, another descends; when one suddenly shifts, others are affected.

The work turns abstract human relationships into an experience directly felt through the body. No one can independently determine the system’s state; each person influences and is influenced by others. Cooperation, confrontation, dependence, control, concession, and imbalance may all arise naturally during play.

”Balance Practice“ does not seek a permanently stable relationship, but understands ”balance“ as a constantly adjusting state between people. The four-person seesaw becomes a miniature model of relationships: How do we keep our own weight and position while leaving space for others? And after relationships change, how do we find a place where everyone can exist?

The work continues Ekokaxi‘s method of using ”play“ as an experiment in body and relationships, letting viewers sense through direct bodily experience the ever-changing connections between individuals and the group.

Some more playful moments with Ekokaxi’s work at First Fantasy Land in Tanko, Beijing. So much happened within those 7 days.

The 11th FIRST Surprise Film Festival featured competition screenings, a genre film lab, forums, interactive media, art installations, and music, with 25 competition films and 12 interactive works on show.

While I was deeply inspired by the experimental films, my most rewarding moment was seeing how many people loved playing with my artwork. Without any guidance or instructions, the nature of play became a universal language. taken in Beijing, China by @ekokaxi

Venture into the enchanting universe of Echo the Wind Wanderer, where artist Ekokaxi crafts a landscape to enter, touch, and explore with clay, paper, yarn, and sponge. At the heart of this journey is the enigmatic Echo, a creature who spans the Macao Museum of Art and MGM Cotai’s Lion Lobby. Through her gaze, visitors are invited to see the world anew, question reality, rediscover themselves, and embark on a journey across time and space.

Here, rules dissolve and possibilities multiply. Above all, this is an open invitation for your inner child to roam free. The space offers a haven from comparison and labels, and visitors can shed the weight of judgment. Yet, woven throughout are peculiar creatures, cryptic symbols, and untrodden paths, transforming each step into a daring adventure. Visitors are welcome to touch, play, misinterpret, imagine, collaborate, and act – witnessing Echo‘s world and helping shape it as co-creators.
