life on film 🎞️

experimented with black & white film for the first time, wasn’t sure how landscape photos would look with it but I’m pretty happy with the result 🤍

I’m a mum of a boy, not a boy mum. IYKYK

I had someone ask me a couple of months ago, now that I have a boy, do I wish I had a girl instead or am I happy as is.
In all honesty I didn’t really care about the gender when I was pregnant, I only hoped and wished for a healthy baby. But after I had my son I felt this enormous weight of responsibility on me.
If I were to have a daughter, I would be in constant fear of keeping her safe in this world. But now that I have a son, I’m terrified of raising the kind of boy I’d be wanting to keep a daughter safe from…and honestly this might scare me more.

Despite being raised by south Asian parents with 3 daughters, we were never held to traditional gender based expectations. We weren’t taught that our role was to cook, clean, or prepare for marriage. In fact, marriage was never discussed until we brought it up ourselves. Our parents focused on raising us to be independent, capable, and self sufficient. Their priority was never finding someone to look after us. My dad was adamant that we learn how to service and look after our cars so we’d never have to rely on a man, now at 30 I wish I paid more attention to him back then.

I want to take the way my parents raised us and flip the perspective for my son.

I don’t want to raise a boy who is excused from accountability because “boys will be boys”.
I want to raise a child who is respectful, kind, emotionally aware, and considerate of the people around him.

There won’t be “pink & blue jobs” in our home. He’ll learn to cook, clean, contribute to the household, and care for others, not because those are chores, but because they’re life skills.

Boys may be naturally more energetic and physical but I think part of parenting is helping children channel those traits in healthy and positive ways.

My parents taught their girls to stand on their own two feet. I hope to raise a boy who believes everyone should 💕

Street photography for me is among the most difficult genres. As a landscape photographer, I’m accustomed to a slower process of planning and deliberation.

Capturing the bustling, vibrant streets of Hoi An demanded a different approach. Quickly adapting to changes in the environment and building compositions on the fly was vital.

Here are some of the images I’m really proud of so far. taken in Hội An by @eksnge

It’s so easy to forget that the untouched beauty of the Grampians is so close to the city. Watching my son enjoy every minute of this trip made things so clear…we are made to be outdoors✨

Had the best Mother’s Day weekend thanks to @tinyawayescape at their Grampians edge location ❤️
It’s right next to the iconic giant koala, and yes we took a daggy family pic 🐨

My little boy can’t yet appreciate the vastness of the night sky. How the silence of a starry night has its own unique sound. Time moves in a special way in the middle of the night.

Thanks to @tinyawayescape, we were able to share our love for stargazing with our son, under the spectacular dark skies of the Grampians. taken in Tiny Away Escape by @eksnge
