‘मुद्राक्षरविद्या’ हे गिरीश दळवी ह्यांनी लिहिलेले देवनागरी मुद्राक्षरविद्येवरील अभ्यासपूर्ण पुस्तक आहे. पुस्तकात मानव आणि मुद्रित अक्षरे ह्यांच्या दृढ संबंधांचा वेध घेण्यात आला आहे. राज्य मराठी विकास संस्थेने (महाराष्ट्र शासन) प्रकाशित केलेल्या ह्या ३५० पृष्ठांच्या पुस्तकात, धातूच्या मुद्राक्षरांपासून संगणकीय मुद्राक्षरांपर्यंतच्या प्रवासाचा आढावा घेण्यात आला आहे. मुद्राक्षरविद्येचे सिद्धान्तन, देवनागरी लिपीचे स्वरूप आणि व्याप्ती, मुद्राक्षरांची रचनावैशिष्ट्ये, मुद्राक्षरांचे वर्गीकरण आणि अक्षरजुळणी ह्या विषयांवरील प्रकरणे दृश्य उदाहरणांसह ह्यात आहेत.

मुद्राक्षरांच्या सौंदर्यात्मक आणि उपयोजनात्मक आयामांची जाण वाढवतानाच त्यांच्या सामाजिक, आर्थिक, नैतिक आणि राजकीय संदर्भांचीही चर्चा ह्या पुस्तकात केली आहे.

The existence of multiple writing systems in India presents a unique challenge for Type designers. Apart from the thirteen writing systems used for official purposes, that are used individually and in multi-script scenarios, several historical and contemporary writing systems continue to be used. These writing systems are visually distinct, shaped by their historical evolution, writing tools, linguistic requirements, technological developments (or the lack of it), social trends and user preferences.
