Snapshots of studio life taken in Barcelona, Spain by @el.bee.art

I made these Eleanors to wear around the studio while I work on shoe orders, and have admittedly had a pretty hard time taking them off 😅 Sometimes I remind myself, though, to look up from this zoomed-in Maker Mode and take in the world around me.. After all, the reason to have beautiful shoes is to use them to wander in!! ..and my goodness what a wonderful neighborhood this is to explore 🥲

When you came by to finish your piece and found it hanging in a show... Sometimes the work is simply complete without needing your permission 🤷‍♀️ A little window into the real (and totally made up) way of the world, ain't it?

The oil dabble goes on. This is back from March '24 - First go at reflections 🪞 Painting is not about replicating. It's about learning how to really see... taken in Eixample by @el.bee.art

Zooming in and out on my most current and consistent focus these last couple of years: traditional oil painting techniques. I've been generally self taught and have often preferred letting loose on paper and just letting out whatever comes.

Lately, though, I want to understand. How do oils really work? How do you use and move with this medium? How did the great masters learn to replicate or express the feelings of real life?

This is one of my very first oil paintings that I completed back in 2022. I really like the texture and maleability of the paints and how the colors and strokes feel in this particular painting.

Often, the biggest key to unlocking your own freedom and unique style comes from really knowing what you're working with on the most basic of levels, so that you can leap up when it's time to fly... knowing your materials in the most intimate ways so that you can ultimately use them to create whatever you imagine. Let's see where it takes me :)
