friday the 13th // the holy mother ❦𖦹𓆙

If you have attended these circles in the past, this year we will go beyond the stripping down of programmed fear and move even deeper into the holy number 13, and the myths and archetypes that can serve as reminders of our own paths of descension and ascension.

Through our time together we will explore Sophia’s fall and her 13 turnings toward the light, the underworld with Persephone, and Path 13 of the Qabalah, the path of the High Priestess. These explorations will be woven with conversation, chanting, song, embodied movement, an Earthly Mother ritual, and meditation.
 Fear, like a descent, will come, as it always does, whether from within or from outer programming. The choice is how we meet it and move through it, without needing to dominate another. We get to choose what we allow into our field. And there will be times it doesn’t feel like we have a choice at all. The practice is remembering that we do, even when it’s small, and then making it with our divine awareness. Sometimes that means choosing to consciously fall apart while staying devoted and connected to our inner knowing and light, so that even in the depths of despair, it remains.

Boy oh boy, what a trip around the sun ~

A year marked equally by grief and beauty.

I’ve been feeling immensely tender the past few days as I move into 32 feeling wholly different from the year before.

And simultaneously more myself than I’ve ever been.

While I endured loss and dismemberment of many aspects of myself and my life, I have also experienced some of the greatest joys.

I fell deeply in love. I rooted into community and relationships that feel like soul family. I deepened into my familial and ancestral ties.

I began tending to a garden and nurturing my connection with the earth. I returned to ancestral homelands on a women’s pilgrimage.

And I began the journey of initiating into motherhood. I lack language large enough to describe how transformative (and humbling) the journey has already been.

It is such a gift to create life and feel held by so much love, as I enter this next chapter. Phew.

What if what feels like a tomb is actually a womb?

Today, on Magdalene’s Feast Day, I find myself reflecting on the sacred art of letting go.

Mary Magdalene arrived at the tomb carrying oils to anoint. She came in grief. In devotion. In love.

And instead, she encountered transformation.

The tomb was not the end.

It was the beginning of something she could not yet comprehend.

This past year has been an initiation into this mystery—the dismembering of old identities, the grief of what I can no longer return to, and the slow remembering of what has always lived within me.

Magdalene reminds us not to cling to what is ready to transform.

Rose reminds us that in the darkness, something sacred is being formed.

May we trust the places where we are being undone.

May we remember that endings are often the soil where new life begins 🌹 by @eldertreeofferings

Some of my go-to helpers for supporting my immune system through a flare 🌱

Beyond the fact that nourishing our bodies with plants and broths can support us in very tangible ways, I also find so much joy in relationship building with these non-human kin.

Chronic illness and autoimmunity can feel extremely taxing and isolating, often limiting folks’ capacity to be physically in community.

As someone who has struggled with this, I find it immensely supportive to have consistent and sustained relationships with the plant and animal world who are all around me, calling to my attention daily.

Cauldron tending and medicine making is a deeply intimate experience where I get to know the many aspects of each plant and animal I commune with.

I have immense gratitude for the ways the natural world has supported me through my many stops on the spiral path.

Chronic illness was my doorway into folk medicine, and I’m strangely appreciative of that.

Listening to the quiet messages from the ocean and Hibiscus + feeling inspired by these teachers as I prepare to co-host a Venus in Pisces ritual with @saturnvbaby this Friday.

Motherwort • Leonorus cardiaca

The botanical name for motherwort translates to “lionhearted.” Through study and relationship, I’ve come to know her as deep support for the emotional and spiritual heart.

I’ve been feeling her call strongly these past months as I’ve moved through layers of change and grief. Looking back on the past year—and sitting with this exact moment in time—I feel the weight of what has been carried.

2025 arrived with immense hardship, both personal and collective. The Year of the Snake. A year guided by Pluto—the planet of power, death, and rebirth. Little softness or ease to be found.

As we continue to witness and experience the ongoing violence, I feel my nervous system and many others’ bearing the strain. And again, I hear the call of the Mother—for support, wisdom, softness, and care—so I can continue to show up for these times, for myself and for my community.

For me, motherwort offers profound heart and womb support. I can feel her soft embrace every time I commune with her—a deep exhale. These times are designed to exhaust us.

I’m grateful to the earth for her nurturance, so that we may continue to meet this moment with lion hearts—both soft and strong.

As I receive care from the earth, I’m able to offer care to myself and others. And so it goes—the cycle, the infinite web of reciprocity.

Gracias and aho to the plant spirits, our guides, and the well ancestors who walk with us and offer their wisdom during these trying times.

May motherwort medicine find you through the ethers 🌬️
