this goon turns ONE🥺🎉

Stoke was born 5 days before my heart boy, Rundle, passed. My dogs come everywhere with me so many of Stokes “firsts” were my firsts without Rundle, & a lot of my happy moments this year also felt quite heavy.

But Stokes goofiness has gotten me through the harder days, and his required 10km a day to not be stupid bonkers has gotten me outside everyday.

This year, he’s summited more mountains than he has toes and swam in more alpine lakes than he should have. We’ve gone on road trips and slept in a tent by the ocean, lakes and summits for a month. He’s tried to drink ocean spicy water, knocked me off my paddle board many times but impressed me by not running in front of my cross country skis. He’s gotten the zoomies at 2000m elevation and sleeps on my pillow every night. He’s made me laugh more than he’s made me cry, and maybe my standards are just low, but I love him a lot for that.

you’re not actually sad, you just need to go spend a month in the backcountry with your friends/dogs and watch every sunset and jump in every alpine lake and crawl up mountains to drink wine and be confused whether your legs are tanned or just covered in dirt⛺️☀️🐕🫶🌲🥾

the only way this month could have been more fulfilling is if i could have spent it with my angel boy, Rundle. I carry pieces of him with me everywhere I go and cherished his memory everyday on this trip. i miss him so bad, but through it all, I’m constantly grateful for this lifestyle that he taught me to love so deeply. forever and always my sweet boy🦊 taken in Vancouver Island by @eleanorbuchner
