They say last minute trips turn out to be the best & it couldn’t be more true 😮‍💨

This trip to the mountains had been scheduled since April. However, we didn’t have a so called “plan”. The week before I was supposed to drive out, I was shopping at Costco, Eleanor texts the chat that a backcountry trail we’ve all been wanting to do had resos available for the Monday. Mind you I worked the weekend before leaving and live 6 hours away from them. So naturally, I said yes. I left right after work to head to Alberta and then we got up real early Monday to drive roughly 4 hours to get to the trailhead in BC.

It was so damn worth it. A trail that has been on our bucket list for years and we finally did it. So many textures and big rocks everywhere you looked. Conditions were perfect and of course the locals blessed us with their presence 🐐

The trail that broke my feet & nearly my sanity 👣

This was one of the hardest backpacking trips to date. Was it the trail itself, or the fact I’ve been living in a province so flat I can see Storm running for miles? Maybe a mix of both. The amount of incline on this trail was no joke, and my feet did NOT appreciate it. Resulted in the worst ankle blisters I’ve ever had. Not even Leukotape could save me.

I even had a mid-trail mental breakdown where I told Eleanor, Claire and Josh to just leave me in woods to basically die. Definitely not one of my finer moments, but pain really changes a person 😅

With that being said, I’m in the market for new hiking boots. I have no interest in repeating last year’s horror story, so give me all your recommendations! My two biggest requirements: a wide toe box & blister free 🥾

Warning⚠️: If you don’t like seeing blisters or open wounds, maybe skip the last slide...
