This Mental Health Awareness Month, we are launching our newest campaign: DON'T MAKE THEM DO IT ALONE.

For nearly seven years, beginning with COVID-19, followed by political unrest, ongoing violence, war, displacement, and the devastating aftermath of October 7th, Israel’s youth have lived without a true sense of stability or emotional security. Today, the emotional toll is impossible to ignore.

But trauma does not have to define a generation. When a young person feels seen, heard, and supported, everything can begin to change.

Now is the time to act.
Help stop trauma from defining a generation.
Help us remind Israel’s young people that they are not alone.

With an amazing team of dedicated staff and volunteers, ELEM’s Anashim Tovim (Good People) program provides emergency response, harm reduction, and support for young people at nightlife venues, outdoor parties, and music festivals.

Our teams create safe spaces where young people can access professional, nonjudgmental support. They also provide practical information and tools to reduce harm, along with immediate assistance during emergencies and crises related to psychedelic experiences.

Since October 7, the program has adapted to changes in Israel’s nightlife and party scene, with an increased emphasis on trauma-informed care.

ā€œThere are no ā€˜good kids’ and ā€˜bad kids’ here. No one can say, ā€˜That could never happen to me.ā€™ā€

In an interview with Galei Tzahal (Army Radio), Tali Erez, CEO of ELEM in Israel, discusses the challenges facing youth in Israel today. ELEM’s annual report documents a sharp increase in indicators of distress from 2025 to 2026, including a 70% increase in reports of self-harm and a 73% increase in expressions of anger.

These statistics are alarming, but there is also a path forward. It begins with one caring, trusted adult who says: ā€œI believe in you.ā€

A child who has seen a frightening video doesn’t need to hear, ā€œIt’s no big deal.ā€

Genia Kliot, a senior professional of ELEM’s Trauma Headquarters in Israel, shares in a video how to talk with kids and young adults about traumatic events: understand what they’re really asking, validate their fears, and ask how they’re feeling.

Because when we acknowledge fear, it doesn't have to take over everything else. šŸ’™

ā€œWe found her at a bus stop. She couldn’t — and didn’t want to — go home. We didn’t fully understand why, but we tried to find somewhere for her to sleep. Because it was late and she was already 18, we couldn’t find a place.

We knew we couldn’t leave her alone. We were afraid of what might happen to her. So another volunteer and I stayed with her through the night. She slept while we stayed by her side and kept watch. In the morning, we connected her with a therapeutic support program.

You never know where a night in the Outreach Van will lead. Sometimes we’re out until 3 or 4 in the morning, and the next day, we go right back to work.ā€

This is just one of countless stories of young people who find themselves alone in a moment of crisis in Israel. For approximately 15,000 young people each year, ELEM’s staff and volunteers are there 365 days a year — day and night.

On the streets. In emergency centers. At youth centers and schools. Wherever young people are, ELEM is there.

Help us make sure that when a young person in Israel has nowhere else to turn, ELEM is there. (Link in bio.)
