100 words that I like. An excerpt from an ongoing spreadsheet archive, translated into paint.

Index I, 2026, 109.5 x 90cm, Mixed media on Yupo

This painting translates an ongoing spreadsheet archive of artists, developed over more than a decade, into paint. The names form a partial, time-bound selection - those most present within the archive at that moment. Transferred and partially erased, they accumulate into a dense field where legibility shifts and language operates as image.

What emerges is not a fixed record but an iterative mapping, where listing becomes material process: a way of working through influence, attention, and memory, with the archive remaining open to continual reorganisation.

I recently realised I'd been creating conceptual archives / databases in the form of spreadsheets for many years (for fun, lol) and decided to make some art with them 🙃

This painting was made without any preconceived ideas or plans.
It was one of the first larger scale paintings I have ever let myself experience making, using my full wing span.
Turns out there's some Pollock lineage coming out in the way I naturally seem to create marks; an influence to work through and come to the other side.
There are many memories in this work; of touch, light, ocean, the wind.
I wonder what moves will come next... Will I bring some weight and structure into the composition, or will it stay floating? Or will I let it be as it is.
