Showing my boys my favorite city ♥️ had the best time playing tourists in a place I called home for 8 years. Rhett traveled like a champ and had some firsts… first trip to the beach (North Ave), fireworks (Navy Pier and @cherry_byrd backyard kind) and even a ride on the el. While I didn’t get to see all the people I would have liked or dine in all the restaurants I missed, it was the kind of trip that completely filled my summer cup. #summertimechi

Core memory with my favorite little sidekick.

Until my very late 30s, I never really envisioned myself having kids. Beyond waiting until I found the right partner, I think a big part of it was that I felt completely fulfilled by my career. Up until the decision to go all in on Body Politik, I actually felt stuck, like I wasn’t living up to my potential professionally.

Now, so many of my decisions revolve around him. But I truly believe I wouldn’t have gotten to him without BP. Building this business changed the trajectory of my life in more ways than one.

This trip was 6 years in the making. Permits I had for 2020 were postponed and when our number came up again, I was too pregnant to make the hike. The stars aligned this month so we knew we had to do it… thanks for the nudge @jooleecyr

June is definitely a hot month to visit but the turquoise pools and waterfalls made it completely worth it. It’s incredible that places like this exist in our own backyard.

But who’s counting? Fun fact: this is my very first milestone photo. All the others, I think I snuck in, head down with shame thinking I should be farther along… I mean, I was the first person here! 🤣 We’ve had SO MANY clients and instructors surpass their 400th class…. some on their 800th…. and trust me, there is no one prouder and more impressed than me.

I felt it was important to share this as a reminder of how easy it is to get caught up in where we think we ‘should’ be that we forget to celebrate where we are along the way.

For 11 years, I have been taking and teaching Lagree… a LONG time. There have been seasons throughout this time that my desire to hop into class has been much greater or there were far less responsibilities vying for my time. So lately, I have shifted my focus to just showing up. And through boring, unglamorous consistency, I fell in love with taking class all over again with a renewed sense of excitement and energy.

So coming from one competitive person to maybe another, milestones aren’t about being the first or fastest but are there to honor commitment you’ve made to yourself 🤎
