Élise Peroi’s work, Herbiers (2025), was originally created for her exhibition at the Museo Sant Orsola in Florence (2025 to 2026) 🌱   Museo Sant Orsola’s exhibition, The Rose that Grew from Concrete, explored fragile resilience and the quiet promise of rebirth within ruin, tracing a shared story where the past serves as the seed of all renewal.   Through intricately woven constructions, Peroi’s practice situates itself within the expanded field of contemporary textile art, combining painting, craft, and architectural traditions. Peroi’s commitment to handcraft is central to her prac-tice. She approaches weaving not simply as a technique but as a performative, durational act. After an almost surgical cutting of the painted fabrics into irregular ribbons, Peroi weaves and builds her textiles, sometimes hanging, sometimes tied into wooden armatures. ART BASEL - avec @galerieasbenichou 16.06 - 21.06, Stand M13 Statements @artbasel Vue de l’atelier par @sydney.firsching lors de la réalisation de l’œuvre Murale. « Il est éclairant de revenir aujourd’hui sur les ambitions portées par l’art mural moderne qui, des années 1930 à 1960, a cherché à inscrire la peinture dans l’espace architectural et public. Face à une remise en cause de la peinture de chevalet, alors perçue comme le lieu d’un rapport individualisé à l’œuvre, et dans une modernité urbaine déjà traversée par des trajectoires nomades, la tapisserie de manufacture, en tant que forme murale mobile et pratique nécessairement collaborative, a déployé toute sa puissance symbolique, faisant de ce médium un art issu du collectif pour le collectif. L'œuvre d’Elise Peroi, de par sa nature architecturale, charrie quelque chose de cette histoire. Elle convoque cet imaginaire et, dans le même temps, le déplace vers une approche phénoménologique de l'espace, où la structure ne vaut plus pour elle-même mais pour les relations, les rythmes et les circulations qu'elle rend possibles. Héritière des clôtures les plus anciennes, tressages archaïques, l'œuvre prolonge une généalogie du mur tissé qui, à travers motifs et ornements, porte des symboles et participe aux rituels sociaux qui se déploient dans l’enceinte qu’elle délimite. Un ensemble de panneaux, disposés en une série de trois cadres superposés, module le volume et dessine une frontière. L’artiste, par son travail de tissage et du vide, cherche à traduire ce qui traverse, le souffle, l’atmosphère. Inspirée du livre ‘Vivre de paysage ou L’impensé de la Raison’ de François Jullien, elle cherche à traduire une vision englobante du monde, où tout ce qui nous entoure « n’est plus affaire de “vue”, mais du vivre ». Son travail, qui laisse paraître des espaces suspendus, renvoie également à la notion du temps, de l’atelier et de l’outil. An exceptional week that held CARVALHO’s inaugural edition of Frieze Los Angeles, resulting in a sold out solo with Élise Peroi and our selection among Artsy’s “Top Ten Booths.” Thank you for this cosmic welcome to LA. Deeply grateful to my gallery team and to @friezeofficial ✨✨ Inviting Peroi to work on a monumental scale for Frieze Los Angeles felt like the ideal means to both introduce the soft command of her practice and to mark the importance of this occasion for the gallery.  Peroi contributes to a growing dialogue around textile’s return to the center of contemporary art discourse. Her practice aligns with artists as Sheila Hicks, Olga de Amaral and Chiharu Shiota, who expand the language of fiber through sculptural, spatial and conceptual strategies. Peroi brings a distinctly lyrical and ecological dimension, rooted in fragility and the poetics of disappearance. The central installation at Frieze, titled L’ocre du vent, consists of six tiered elements, framing Peroi’s luminous painted weavings. Née à Nantes en 1990, Élise Peroi vit et travaille entre Bruxelles et Arles. Elle est diplômée d’un Master en Design textile de l’Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles en 2015. Élise Peroi, par son travail de tissage et du vide, cherche à traduire ce qui traverse, le souffle, l’atmosphère.
