OC Champs. Cloud cover kept forecasted super heat at bay, but those warm Santa Ana winds made 50% of the race extra tough. Des sprinted from the start, staying in 2nd place for the first mile. He realized he started too hot and slowed down to keep himself from blowing up. Crossed the line in 11th of 157 with a PR time of 17:39 (for 3 miles!!). Up next: league finals. by @elisewallace

Last month I got to watch my nephew Beckett while his baby brother was being born. I loved hanging with him for a few days, but I also treasured the little bit of time I got to meet my newest nephew Wyatt. He was in the NICU for a week, but he’s doing great at home now. Now just waiting until I can see him again. by @elisewallace

Central Park Invitational. Weather forecast of 100° at his 12:30 start time. Why race directors don’t adjust schedules and start times ahead of time is a mystery to me. Anyway, race shortened to 2.1 miles and started 10 minutes early, with no announcement 🤷‍♀️ Despite the conditions, Des had his best race yet! At halfway he was 30th and he finished 14th of 234 😳 11:48. by @elisewallace

Within 24 hours of PRP injection, KJ’s Friday night flag football game, Desmond’s early morning XC meet, and Desmond’s afternoon high school baseball game. So thankful I had crutches and a nice chair to watch it all. Foot hurting bad, but that’s expected. No ice, no heat, and no anti-inflammatory meds. Gotta let the healing vibes flow so I can get back to running.

Four days later I’m able to walk a bit, but foot is still a little swollen and super sore. Can’t put any weight on it yet. Again, it’s supposed to be like this, but doesn’t make life any easier. I won’t be resuming any weight-bearing exercise for at least a few weeks. Until then, I’ve got my hand weights to keep me busy. by @elisewallace

Laguna Hills Invitational 18:23. Hills, dirt, and heat. Desmond finished 23/238, first freshman boy at Elmo. Cousins, aunt, and uncle spectators. by @elisewallace
