Someone once told me some children are meant to be broken.

I knew even then that my daughter wasn’t one of them. Her fire was never something to fix. It was a gift to protect. 🤍 by @elisha.trask.writes

Sometimes the kindness you give quietly finds its way back to you when you need it most. 🤍

Somewhere, someone remembers a version of you that no longer exists.

And maybe you’re holding on to an old version of someone else, too.

I hope life has been kind enough to let us all grow beyond who we used to be. 🤍

Sometimes we recognize someone’s pain by the way they rush to make it smaller.

The little laugh. The quick defense. The way they explain the person who hurt them before admitting they were hurt.

You do not have to make someone easier to understand before you are allowed to tell the truth about what they did.

Some children are called easy because they learned early that needing less made life easier for everyone around them.

They learned not to complain, not to ask for much, and not to make their feelings someone else’s problem.

And everyone praised them for it.

But sometimes the child who never needed anything was the child who needed someone to notice the most.

Maybe we are too hard on ourselves for not knowing what to do next.

This is our first time being this age, knowing these people as they are now, and living this exact day.

We are all arriving at our lives at the same speed.

One day at a time. 🤍

One of the strangest parts of growing up is realizing that the adults who made you feel small were just people. People with fears, insecurities, and struggles of their own.

But when you’re a child, you don’t know that. You believe what they say about you.

And sometimes you spend half your life trying to unlearn things that were never true in the first place. 🤍

You may never know how many times you have been remembered in a room you weren’t in.

A laugh, a place, or something kind you said years ago can bring you back to someone for just a moment. There are pieces of you living in stories you may never get to hear. 🤍
