Three months.
Three months since I packed my bags and left little old New Zealand for even littler, even older Valle Mosso, not really knowing what was waiting for me on the other side. What I found was so much more than an internship.

To everyone at Reda and Zentera - thank you for welcoming us so generously and for giving us a once-in-a-lifetime, world-class experience. Thank you for sharing not only your knowledge, but your passion, patience, and pride in an industry shaped by generations before you.

Over these three months, I’ve learnt more than I ever imagined possible. I’ve learnt about wool qualities, fibre performance, the textile industry, and the expertise held by the people who keep it alive. I’ve followed the wool fibre from farm through every stage of the supply chain until it becomes a luxury worsted fabric. Above all, I’ve learnt about the care people pour into their work.

One of the greatest privileges of this internship was undertaking my own research project with Reda. I explored how Reda’s textile expertise is shared through the Made-to-Measure value chain, leading to the concept of Reda Insider—a digital learning platform designed to share Reda’s expertise with tailoring partners worldwide. The project taught me that Reda’s greatest asset isn’t simply the fabric it produces, but the craftsmanship, technical knowledge, and human experience woven into every metre.

I’ve met fellow interns who arrived as strangers and will leave as lifelong friends. I’ve wandered through places I’d only ever seen in photographs, from the Dolomites to Switzerland, Milan, Florence, Como, Piedmont and Liguria. It’s funny how quickly somewhere unfamiliar can become somewhere you’ll always miss.

As I leave Valle Mosso, I take with me knowledge of wool and its supply chain, friendships, memories, and a deeper appreciation for craftsmanship. Behind every beautiful fabric is a story—of people, place, innovation alongside heritage, and care.

Grazie Mille Francesco, Fabrizio, Sofia, Emilia and all of Reda, for trusting us, teaching us, and reminding me that the most meaningful journeys are the ones that change the way you see the world.
