Dear Hunter,
i dont know how to express how much i miss you. Or how to describe the pain my heart felt on the day you left. The same pain I have felt everyday since. I don’t know to put into words that you changed my life in a way that only you could. The way you cared about little things no one else noticed, the way you loved your friends, the way you smiled and the way you laughed.
I can’t stop thinking about this summer and all the adventures we had. All the fun, impactful, and unforgettable moments that I remember wishing would last even after the summer ended. When I think about these memories, you’re always there. Every chaotic camping trip, 1am car rides to dominoes for pizza that was definitely not as tasty as we expected it to be, relaxing at the river with you, Ava, and I, that day at the beach when Miley was being so naughty and you were so annoyed with her, and countless Mochas hangs with you, Ava, Kaitlyn, Eden, Justus and I on early mornings after a crazy camping night, going over all the silly things that had happened and laughing until we couldn’t anymore.
You would think that spending so much time with a person would get tiring, but I’m convinced that you had a light that shone through you that never dulled. A light so beautiful that it drew people in and made them love you for how genuinely joyful and kind you were. You were always smiling, always trying to make others smile too. You always had something so funny to say, and the way that we bantered was one of my favorite things about our friendship.
I’m forever grateful and in awe of your gift to really listen to what people have to say, giving them a space to speak their mind as you listened with openness and patience. I’m glad that I had the honor of having so many meaningful conversations with you throughout these past few months. There is so much that I would do to have just one more. To tell you that you mean more to all of us than you could ever possibly imagine. To show you that there are so many people who love you for the beautifully compassionate human that you are.
When I get to Heaven, I’ll be looking for you. And maybe we will actually remember how to do the floss then.
