Timestamped day in the life as a freelance wedding industry consultant, shoot producer … and mom of three. Many, many days I’m at my desk behind a computer. But with prepping for a photo shoot tomorrow and a kid milestone tonight, today was not one of those days. (Would you believe me if I said there were more errands and stops that didn’t make the video cut? 😮‍💨)Every day is different: different work, different stamina, different emotions and challenges to navigate. But it’s fun and exciting and I wouldn’t change a thing. Last night was so special: Opening night of the @lyricopera @billycorgan show “A Night of Mellon Collie & Infinite Sadness”The show itself was incredible—the music, the singing, the stellar lighting and graphics. The energy was electric (and exactly what you’d expect for the coming together of alt rock and opera). But I had a particular passion for the couture garments worn by @billycorgan and the four opera singers, designed by @chloemendel and @gillesmendel for @houseofgilles . I had the honor of interviewing Chloe and Gilles for a story about the designs, which ran in the show’s program book, and I got to see the garments being made in their New York atelier last month. This show brings together a multitude of cultural worlds and some epic Chicago history. It felt huge to be a teeny tiny part of something so important in my favorite city in the world.
