📣🍁 PSA: It’s roast season‼️🍂

📍 Smithdown Road, Liverpool

Like your grid isn’t already full of roasts today.. here’s another that you definitely need to try 😉👏

🍁 My Mum and I went to @leafsmithdown last Sunday and it was SO good!! We started off with a couple of small plates to share.. this was ambitious given we had a roast each coming but they’re so worth shouting about.

To start:
🫓 Loaded hummus - it came with pumpkin seeds and pomegranate that came with a warm fluffy pitta, and had a lemon drizzle on top. Delicious! 🤤

🌿 Spinach, feta & chickpea parcels - I loved this dish. The pastry was crispy and the filling was gorgeous. Definitely would order again!

Main event:
🌱 Butternut squash roast seasoned with a lot of rosemary. It was soft and flavoursome.
🥩 Beef roast was two slices of very tender meat.
🥕 Both roasts came with carrot, green beans, mangetout, cabbage, carrot and swede mash, three roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding. It came with the gravy pre poured on, and there was plenty of it. Everything on the plate was fresh and cooking brilliantly.

🧀 Cauliflower cheese - of course we had to order a side of this after seeing the table next to us get it. Gorgeous, creamy, cheesy and a huge portion!

🌟 But wait.. I didn’t even tell you the best part about the roasts yet… UNLIMITED YORKSHIRE PUDDINGS!! How many do you think you can handle?? 😏

Pudding:
🧁 As good as they sounded, I just couldn’t eat another crumb. We were given two cupcakes to take away which I did each at about 10pm (the roast was at 2pm - noted to say how filling it was!). Gorgeous cupcake, very sweet icing and a fluffy sponge 😍

🍂 Leaf are serving these incredible roasts every Sunday from 1pm. The restaurant was busy at 2pm so I would recommend booking, or if you wait a little later then you might be able to walk in.. but I might of eaten all the yorkshires so you’d better book 😉

🍹 Tipsy Tapas 🍹

📍 Castle Street, Liverpool City Centre

I know what you’re thinking.. did Ellen go out drinking again? Yes, yes I did, and I had a great time doing it! 🤣

🍹 Last weekend, Connor and I went to Tipsy Tapas at @elgatonegroliv which was fabulous. The restaurant was full so there was a good vibe for a bottomless.

🥂 We started off our drinks with a prosecco each, then swapped over to Aperol Spritz which were made very well. We thought it’d be best to stick to the one drink than try loads. I can vouch for the sangria though.. it’s good in here 👏

For the food, we ordered:
⭐️ Mini Catalan chorizo
🌶️ Harissa chicken thighs
🦑 Calamari
🫑 Padron peppers
🍠 Miso sweet potato with mango yogurt
🥦 Tenderstem broccoli with chilli oil

👏 Everything was delicious, as expected. The food at El Gato has always been great. Connor loved the chicken thighs and my favourite was the sweet potato. The sauce it was in was gorgeous!

🤫 I tried to go lighter on the food I ordered but I was so full after the three dishes. Decent sized portions for sure. Good to line the stomach, right? 💁‍♀️

👏 The service was fine in terms of getting our next drinks. The restaurant was so busy that it was understandable that there was a small delay on a couple of rounds. The staff were really friendly in there and served us with with a shot of limoncello to end the 90 mins.. what a treat 🍋

💃 If you’re looking for a lively bottomless brunch spot in town, with amazing food, I’d recommend this one. I so often say that the food at a bottomless brunch lets a place down but not here. The food was the highlight for me! 👏

⏰ You can book in for your 90 mins of Tipsy Tapas on Fridays 12pm-9pm, or Saturdays 12pm-4pm at @elgatonegrotapas.

🧂Salt House Tapas 🏠

📍Liverpool One, Liverpool City Centre

Why did it take me so long to visit @salthousetapas ?? Let this be your sign to not sleep on this restaurant. We had some gorgeous dishes and there’s so much to choose from that I can’t wait to go back and try more!

We ordered:
🫑 Padron peppers
🫜 Goats cheese, beetroot and crostini
🌟 Pea and mint risotto
🌟 Spinach and goats cheese croquettes
🌟 Jamon croquettes
🐽 Pork belly, black pudding and purée
🍢Smoked paprika chicken skewers

😍 Did I overload on green dishes and goats cheese? Yes. Do I regret it? No! All of my dishes were gorgeous, and Connor loved his too. We were stuffed by the end of the meal.

🌟 Huge shoutout to SHT for having veggie croquettes on the menu. I always feel like I miss out on these because they always have meat/fish in but these had veggies ones and I loved them. Will get two portions next time because I needed more than 2 but worth the £4.50 imo😍

💰 With two diet cokes, the whole meal came to about £70. They do have a lunch menu available 12-4pm for £21pp too so if you’re out and about in town and need a respite then you should check this restaurant out!

👏 They also have dairy free, gluten free and vegan menus available so I believe there is something for everyone! Service was great and I really enjoyed our meal in there. Looking forward to another visit soon because there were lots more veggie options I need to try 😋

🌟 A Rave Review 🌟

📍 Dale Street, Liverpool City Centre

💃 As promised in my Liverpool Cocktail Week reel, I needed to give the food we ate at @dishoompermitroom its own post because it was top tier, out of this world and unreal!!

😍 I could easily announce this as a world class order, and would get everything I ordered again.
So let’s get in to it… here’s what we ate:

🧄 Chilli Cheese Garlic Naan Bites - Wow. Each piece had all the flavours, and the texture of the naan was fluffy and crispy on the outsides. A must order!

🥔 Aloo Tikki Chole - Smashed potato patties topped with chickpeas, yogurt, chutney and so many more flavours. Loved this dish.

🌿 Crispy Spinach Chaat - Crispy fried spinach with chutneys, spiced and yogurts. So much going on and each mouthful was amazing.

🧀 Mattar Paneer - A velvety sauce full of big chunks of paneer cheese and peas. Lots of flavour and a decent sized portion.

🍛 Black Daal - Dark and rich flavours in every spoonful. This was definitely the best daal I’ve ever tried in my life, and I’ll be ordering it eat time I go to Dishoom from now on. 100% the highlight for me!! 👏

🧄 We mopped up the daal and paneer dishes with a Garlic naan that was gorgeous. Buttery, garlicky enough and plenty of it!

🥰 If you’re a veggie, you’re defo going to want to save my order and get everything I got. If you’re not, you’ll still want to try all of these dishes because they’re THAT good, promise!!

❤️ Permit Room had a great atmosphere in there, the place was full of happy customers eating and drinking. If you’re only heading there for drinks they’ve got some great, strong cocktails that are definitely worth trying! The staff were fab throughout our visit and I can’t wait to go back soon🍹

🫓 Maray in MCR 🫒

📍 Manchester City Centre

☀️ Before my holiday, my mum and I spent the night in Manchester to be closer to the airport, without the stress of travelling the next morning. I was tasked with choosing the restaurant and then remembered there’s a @marayrestaurants there so booked us in!

🫒 To start, we had the Mezze Sharer. It was stunning. It had all of the following on it:
-Olives
-Hummus
-Za’alook (Moroccan aubergine salad)
-Whipped goat’s cheese
-Cauliflower Bhajis
-Warm fluffy flatbread
My favourites were the cauliflower Bhajis and hummus, but the whole platter is delicious!!

🙋‍♀️ For my main, I got two dishes. The flavours in both were incredible, and the portion sizes were massive.

🪩 Disco cauliflower - chermoula, harissa, yoghurt, tahini and pomegranate. The seasoning and sauces on the disco cauliflower really are next level. I couldn’t finish the whole thing but did my very best.

🍆 Batinjan Mekli - fried aubergine, harissa, chilli crunch and apple slaw. The aubergine slices were lovely and crispy and the apple slaw was refreshing. This was a special so not always on the menu but I think they should consider adding it 😉

Mum ordered:
🍗 Fried chicken - three big pieces with pickles and fenugreek & ginger ketchup. Mum said it was more batter than chicken but the chicken she had was lovely.

🐟 Pan fried coley - this was mussels, boiled potato, curried velouté and it could be a meal in itself. Mum loved this dish👏

🥰 We had a great meal and were stuffed walking out of the restaurant. I’ll definitely be back again soon!!

💰 The bill came to just under £70 with drinks but we got 24% off using the @shufflerewards app! If you want to be saving money when you go out to eat then you can download the app and use my referral code “p9od1o” for your first three months free 😉

🇻🇳 Cơm Việt 🍜

📍 Covent Garden, London

🥳 My last visit to London saw me revisiting the amazing @com_viet in central London and it was just as good as my first visit.

🙋‍♀️ This time, I wanted to try some new dishes (as well as the spring rolls I knew were good). I was so happy to see they had a separate vegan menu so there were lots of choices for us.

We ordered:
🥕 Vegetarian Spring Rolls - really tasty, filled with lovely veggies. I would’ve preferred if they were deep fried like the meat ones come but they were still great 👏

🌶️ Chilli Salt & Pepper Tofu - our favourite of the starters because each bit of tofu was seasoned perfectly and the portion was v generous.

🧄 Garlic Okra - this was cooked perfectly. Each piece of okra was soft and drenched in the garlic sauce - so, so good!

🍜 Bún Bò Huế Chay (v) - My Pho had a good kick of spice to it, and seemed never ending but I did my best to keep going. The noodles resembled spaghetti in shape and taste, and it was full of tofu. Really delicious - just ask for less spice if you’re not as keen as I was 🙌

🍜 Beef Pho - a classic done very well. with flat noodles and plenty of beef, ofc in a beef broth, Gabby loved it. 👏

🥰 The staff at the restaurant were lovely. The restaurant was filling up quickly with lots of happy customers. They have a downstairs area too so hopefully they can squeeze you in when you visit if you don’t book ahead.

👏 I would definitely recommend visiting this central London restaurant if you’re looking for some great Vietnamese food in the city!
Thank you to the team for another great meal in there. I’m already looking forward to visiting again. 🤗

🇮🇹 A trip to A Tavola 🇮🇹

📍Duke Street, Liverpool

🙋‍♀️ Being in charge of picking a restaurant for my family to visit is a lot of pressure, but when it comes to Italians in Liverpool, I definitely know my stuff.

🤗A couple of weeks back, we headed out to @atavoladeli on a Friday evening for a meal and had a great time. A Tavola is the sister restaurant of Botanico. It is ran by the lovely Maria who is so welcoming, and her brilliant team kept us happy all night. Naveen was brilliant, and even got us our favourite wine in from Botanico next door from the week before because he remembered we loved it! 🥰

We ordered a lot, but pictured is:
-Bruschetta Funghi
-Bruschetta Caprese
-Penne Arrabbiata
-Lasagne
-Orichette pomodoro
-Panciotti di melanzane
-Garlic bread with mozzarella

🙌 Everything was divine. My panciotti was gorgeous. Filled with aubergine and scamorza cheese. The tomato sauce it wad in was stunning. Dad loved the Arrabbiata. It had a good kick to it and he ate every bit. Mum loved her pasta too. Great reviews all round.

🥰 I also loved that they gave us a pot of fresh chilli oil and left the Parmesan at the table, just like being in Italy!

🌟 5 stars all round from me, and that’s not just because we got limoncello at the end 😉 Thank you to the amazing team at A Tavola, I’ll be back very soon for more Aperols and great food 🥰

⚽️ Soccer Saturday Brunch ⚽️

📍 Exchange Flags, Liverpool City Centre

🍻 Last Saturday, me and my brother James went to @black.cat.clubs for their Soccer Saturday Brunch and we had such a good time.

⚽️ The 90 minutes is split into two halves for your drinking time, with your food being delivered to the table at half time.

🍹 Drinks wise, I stuck to the trust Aperol Spritz which were fab. James had two pints of Neck Oil then swapped to Hugo Spritz.

🍔 For the food, I had the halloumi burger which was gorgeous, and James had the pizza which I nabbed a bit of too. The burger was definitely the right choice, lots of flavour and the chips were nice and crispy👏

🙌 The service was really good, and I loved the yellow/red card system to flag when you needed a new drink. Mine stayed red to keep the Aperols flowing!

👀 They had Jeff bingo on the table which you could win prizes from if you got one line, two lines or a full house. Unfortunately we didn’t win but we tried our best to keep focussed between the drinking and watching soccer Saturday - harder than it sounds🤣

If you’re into your footy, drinking and games, this is definitely the brunch for you. It costs £38pp and you definitely get your moneys worth 👏

🍔 Meet me at Mildred’s 🍛

📍Covent Garden, London

🍴 A long overdue catch up with my friends well spent eating at @mildredsrestaurants. It was a busy Monday night in there with almost every table booked up, but service was good and the food even better.

🌿 Mildred’s is a completely vegan restaurant, since 2021, and they have such a great selection of dishes on the menu. It’s rare I get so much choice so we had to get a variety of dishes to make sure I sampled a good portion of their menu.

We ordered:
🍚 Chorizo Arancini
🥟 Kimchi Gyoza Dumplings
🫑 Padron Peppers

🍔 Chick+n Caesar Burger - plant based chicken patty with Caesar mayo, lettuce, relish and crispy onions. Served with rosemary fries.

🍛 Kiri Hodi Pilau - a Sri Lanka coconut curry, with sweet potat pilau, tomato rasam, and coconut cucumber sambol.

👏 All of the food was delicious. I loved the starters, and could go back for a tapas session in there. I definitely recommend the dumplings and arancini. The burger was amazing too. Too big to pick up so I used my cutlery, but it was a really good burger, and a great Caesar sauce.

😍 Georgia and Ben are both meat eaters and loved their food. Always good to hear that the meat wasn’t missed because a lot of people wouldn’t go to a fully vegan menu but these people have sense.. so did 😉

🙋‍♀️ Have you been to Midred’s in London? They’ve got 5 venues across the city, with breakfast, weekend and pre-theatre menus in most. Lots of different dishes to choose from.. I’ll wish you good luck with your choice!

🇮🇳 A trip to Tiffin Room 🍛

📍 Duke Street, Liverpool City Centre

I was kindly invited to @indiantiffinroom last week to try some more of their incredible dishes, and for a spoiler… everything was stunning!

🍹 While we narrowed down our options, which was really tough work, I had a Blackberry bramble cocktail and Mum got a pinot white wine. The cocktail was fruity and strong and I could’ve drank 5 but it was a school night 🤣

We finally decided on a selection of dishes and usually I like to star my favourites.. but then I’d star all of them 🌟

We ordered:
😍 Gobi Manchurian - crispy batter fried cauliflower in a sweet, spicy and tangy sauce. I loved this! 👏

🪣 A bucket of Okra Fries - I could eat these forever 😍

🥔 Homemade samosa - baked, crispy samosas stuffed with potatoes and veggies and had a bit of a kick.

🌿 Palak paneer - huge cubes of paneer, in a pureed spinach curry sauce. There wasn’t too much heat to it so it a good one if you don’t love spice. I do but thought it was worth mentioning!

🧄 Garlic naan - thin, crispy and so flavoursome. Buttered well enough and I mopped up all of my curry up with it.

🍚 Chicken biryani - huge portion of chicken and rice with the perfect sauce. Mum loved it. Am I the only one who didn’t know it had a sauce..🤣 I’ll order a veggie one next time because I need to try it!

❤️ The staff at Tiffin Room were so friendly and we felt well looked after. I’ve been here a few times now and have loved it on every visit. I’d definitely recommend visiting here if you want some incredible Indian food. 👏

🍕Munchie Box for 2🍝

📍Litherland, Liverpool

@bella_pizza_pastas are serving up some amazing Italian food and you definitely need to try it!

For just £30 you get:
2 pasta dishes
6” pizza
6” garlic bread
Fries
2 cans
And it’s so worth it. We were stuffed!

🍕 We ordered the margarita pizza and a cheesy garlic bread. Both had thin, crispy bases and were topped with plenty of cheese.

🍝 For the pastas we got the arrabbiata and linguine aglio e olio. The portions were so much bigger than they looked. The arrabbiata was full of chillies so had a good kick to it, and the linguine was full of prawns. Both went down a treat.

😍 The menu has lots to choose from whether it’s a munchie box for one or two, large pizzas, pastas, sides and desserts.

@bella_pizza_pastas is open for delivery or collection on Thursday-Sunday evenings. It’s just a short drive away from the beach too so you could always pick up a box and take it down there one night! 👏

🐯 A trip to Tiger Rock 🐯

📍 Smithdown Road, Liverpool

Mum and I went to @tigerrockhawker a few weeks back for lunch and it was as good as ever in there. They have a great menu with lots of South East Asian small plates to choose from.

🍳 I ordered the Nasi Goreng which if you’ve not had it is fried rice with egg and prawn crackers, and lots of veggies and tofu jn there too. It’s full of flavour and I love it.

🍛 My other dish was the Thai green curry with tofu in. Delicious flavour and a kick of spice to it. I usually scoop some of the curry sauce into the nasi goreng too - so good.

🍤 Mum had the Thai green curry with prawns in and she loved it. Her second dish was the Cha Gio - Vietnamese spring rolls which are her favourite. I wish they had a veggie version of these because they look amazing.

📍 If you’ve not visited already, there are three locations available to visit in town and on Smithdown. They do a lunch menu where you can get 2 dishes for £15 between 12pm-5pm. Definitely something to take advantage of 😍
