Sometimes the things that mean the most are the things we all need.

Right now, several of the everyday essentials on our Elli’s House Amazon wish list are on sale — including women’s underwear, leggings, men’s underwear, washcloths, socks, and more. 🤍

Every item on our wish list is there because it’s a real need for our friends on street outreach. When you shop our wish list, your purchase goes directly to someone who can use it.

And when an item is on sale, your gift can stretch a little further and help us get even more of what’s needed.

If you’d like to help, you can shop our Amazon wish list through the link in our profile.

Thank you for helping us care for our friends in the most practical, everyday ways. It truly makes a difference. 🤍 taken in Detroit, Michigan by @ellishouse313

We’re looking for a few volunteers to help provide lunches for our street outreach friends this month.

We need 60 full lunches for each of these outreach days:

• October 16
• October 19
• October 26
• October 30

At a minimum, each lunch should include:
• A sandwich
• A salty snack (chips, Goldfish, Cheez-Its, etc.)
• A sweet snack (applesauce, cookie, pudding, fruit cup, granola bar, etc.)
• A drink

Please skip tomatoes and condiments. And if you’d like to add something extra, we’re always grateful!

Providing a lunch is such a simple way to show someone that they are seen, remembered, and cared for. If you’d like to provide a lunch day, you can sign up through the SignUpGenius link in our profile.

Thank you for continuing to show up for our friends in Detroit. It means more than you know. 🖤 taken in Detroit, Michigan by @ellishouse313

Emily volunteers with Elli’s House because she knows firsthand what it feels like to be in a place where hope can feel out of reach.

As a survivor of the streets, addiction, and trafficking, Emily wants the people we meet on outreach to know something she knows now: there is a way forward.

“I want to show the people that are still in that position that they are capable of making it out and having a good life.”

Emily believes that even when someone doesn’t feel strong enough today, they can become strong enough — and they don’t have to walk that journey alone.

We are so grateful for the way Emily uses her story, her strength, and her heart to remind others that their lives can be different. Thank you, Emily, for showing up and sharing hope with our friends. 🤍🤍🤍 taken in Detroit, Michigan by @ellishouse313

Sometimes the things that seem small to us can mean so much to someone else.

Right now, our friends on outreach are in need of leggings, men’s and women’s socks, and men’s and women’s underwear. These are everyday essentials, but having them to offer when we meet someone on the street is one small way we can remind our friends that they are seen, cared for, and not forgotten.

We’ve updated our Amazon Wish List with our current needs to make it easy to help. You can shop directly from the list and have items shipped right to Elli’s House.

Thank you for helping us care for our friends in Detroit in the practical, everyday ways that matter. 🤍

Deb had the opportunity to attend the welcome happy hour for the ERG Land Conference at Two James Spirits in Detroit’s historic Corktown neighborhood, alongside other local nonprofit and community leaders who are making a difference in our city.

She was honored to share a little about Elli’s House, the work we do, and the heart and why behind it all. At Elli’s House, we believe in showing up, building relationships, and reminding our friends that they matter and their stories matter.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to connect with others who care deeply about Detroit and the people who call it home. 🤍 taken in Two James Spirits by @ellishouse313

We’re so excited to celebrate Deb and her feature in @1girlrevo The Power of Her exhibit at ArtPrize! 🤍

At Elli’s House, so much of our work is about seeing women who are often overlooked and reminding them: You matter. Your story matters. You deserve to be seen.

For Deb, this exhibit is meaningful because it celebrates not only what she has accomplished, but who she is and the people she has chosen to stand beside. From police officer and mom to grandmother, student, nonprofit founder, and advocate, Deb has worn many hats, started over, and continued showing up for others.

The message behind The Power of Her — that ordinary women can have an extraordinary impact through their lives — is something we see reflected in the work of Elli’s House every single day.

We’re grateful to Kate Milligan and @1GirlRevo for sharing authentic stories of women making a difference and for reminding us of something we hope every woman knows:

Your life has value. Your story matters. You can make a difference.

If you’re in Grand Rapids, be sure to visit the exhibit at Rebel Nell, and don’t forget to vote for 1 Girl Revolution in ArtPrize! ✨ by @ellishouse313

Our friends on outreach have been asking for blankets, and last night we handed out our very last ones. 🤍 We’re in great need of blankets to help keep our friends warm, and we would be so grateful for your help!

New or gently used blankets are happily accepted. We’ve also added blankets to our Amazon wish list if you’d like to shop and have them shipped directly to us. You can find the link in our bio.

If you have blankets to donate and would like to arrange a pickup or drop-off, please email Deb at EllisHouse313@yahoo.com.

Thank you for continuing to show up for our friends in Detroit and helping us meet their needs. Your generosity means so much to us and to the friends we serve! by @ellishouse313

Can you believe October is already right around the corner?! We’re getting ready for another month of street outreach, and that means we need more volunteers to help provide lunches for our friends.

These lunches are such an important part of what we do at Elli’s House, and we’re so grateful for everyone who takes the time to make them, pack them, and drop them off. Your generosity helps us continue showing up for our friends on outreach each week.

We still have a few October dates that need some love:

🥪 October 5
🥪 October 13
🥪 October 16
🥪 October 19

If you’re able to help with one of these dates, we would be so grateful! You can sign up through the link in our bio.

Thank you for continually showing up for Elli’s House and the friends we serve. It truly means so much to us. 🤍 taken in Detroit, Michigan by @ellishouse313

We are going through 150–200 hygiene kits every single week during street outreach, and right now, we no longer have a stock of these items to pull from. What we have is what we’re able to hand out.

One really meaningful way to help is to get a group together and host a hygiene kit drive (or a snack kit drive!) and then spend some time putting the kits together as a group.

This is such an easy way for Bible studies, sports teams, workplaces, clubs, mom groups, and really ANY group to get involved.

We also love talking with groups about what we do at Elli’s House. Deb can tailor the conversation to your group, whether you’re speaking to adults, teens, or even kids.

So if you have a group that would like to get involved, reach out! We’d love to help you put together a drive and come share more about the work happening at Elli’s House. 🤍

Email EllisHouse313@yahoo.com if you’d like to get a group together for this. by @ellishouse313

We’re so proud to see our own Deb Ellinger featured in @1girlrevo ‘s The Power of Her Art Prize exhibit at Rebel Nell in Grand Rapids! 🤍

For nearly a decade, Deb has been walking alongside women impacted by sex trafficking in Detroit through Elli’s House — building relationships, offering safe shelter, and reminding women that they are seen, valued, and loved. Her work is rooted in the belief that every woman deserves a safe place to land and the opportunity to find freedom.

The exhibit is up through October 2nd at Rebel Nell, 96 Monroe Center St NW in Grand Rapids. And if you’re able to stop by, please take a minute to vote for 1 Girl Revolution’s The Power of Her! Every vote helps and means so much to Deb and to all of us at Elli’s House.

Our friend Kate Milligan, the founder and CEO of @1girlrevo will also be hosting 1 Girl Revolution pop-ups at Rebel Nell on Sunday, September 20th and Sunday, September 27th at 3 PM — so there are a couple of great opportunities to check out the exhibit and support the women and organizations being highlighted.

Winner is announced October 3rd. We’d love to see Kate and 1 Girl Revolution take this one and be recognized for all the amazing work they do! ❤️

Last week, Elli’s House lost someone who was deeply loved by our outreach team—T.

T and Deb had what could probably best be described as a push-and-pull relationship. There were hard conversations, frustrating moments, laughter, and moments when neither one of them probably wanted to hear what the other had to say.

But something changed over time.

Recently, their relationship began to flourish. The walls came down a little. Trust grew. And the connection between them became something really special.

During the last two weeks of T’s life, we were told that she was no longer able to walk up or down stairs and that her health had taken a significant decline.

The week before she passed, Deb had the opportunity to sit with T and pray with her. During that conversation, T shared that she believed in Jesus.

For Deb, that moment was incredibly meaningful.

“I’ve had the privilege of praying with three different friends shortly before they died. This was the hardest.”

Because sometimes loving someone means continuing to show up—even when the relationship is hard.

It means not giving up on someone.

It means meeting people where they are.

It means sitting beside them, listening, praying, laughing, crying, and simply being present.

We don’t always get to see how a story ends. We don’t always get the resolution we hope for.

But we believe every life matters.

And we are grateful that, in her final days, we were able to be there.

Rest in peace, T. by @ellishouse313

We really, really need hygiene kits for street outreach right now.

We’re out on outreach three times every week, and we go through approximately 150–200 hygiene kits each week. That’s a lot of toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, body wash, lotion, wipes and other everyday essentials that are getting into the hands of our friends on outreach.

And putting together hygiene kits is such a great way to give back as a group!

A church, small group, school, club, workplace, family, or team could:

-Hold a donation drive and collect hygiene products
-Get together for an afternoon of putting the kits together
-Use that time to connect, serve, and learn more about the work happening through Elli’s House

It’s a simple way to turn a get-together into something that makes a real difference — while helping spread awareness about sex trafficking and the friends we serve in Detroit.

If your group would like to put together hygiene kits, we’d love to have you partner with us!

We’ve also added prepackaged hygiene kits to our Amazon Wish List for anyone who would rather send ready-to-go kits. You can find our wish list through the link in our bio.

Thank you for helping us keep showing up for our friends on outreach. ❤️ by @ellishouse313
