No deeper bond exists on this earth

I owe her everything. She’s my real life Angel. To, at the drop of a hat, have the nerve, temperament, confidence and fortitude to do everything K9 Angel did in her life is exceptional, she was truly gifted.

The Rhino Man the movie theatrical premiere at the Empire Room of Deliotte at the Rockefeller Center in Manhattan, New York June 18th.

With Sgt Orlat Ndlovu, head of ranger services at Timbavati Private Nature Reserve and Sgt Leitah Mkhabela of the Black Mambas Anti Poaching Unit.

As an artist, especially being a painter, we rarely get to see in person the impact of our work on others as it usually occurs well after we’ve gone, most often well after we've passed. Seeing the reactions of Sgt Leitah and Sgt Orlat to the portrait of the late Sgt Anton Mzimba last night was really special and meant a lot to me; as well as seeing the reactions of legendary ranger trainers and friends of the late Sgt Anton; Ruben and Marianne De Kock. It really makes what i do worthwhile, and i cannot thank Sgt Orlat and Sgt Leitah enough for their indomitable courage and service in what they do, risking their lives daily to protect the worlds last rhinos, elephants and endangered species.

I would like to thank John Jurko II for reaching out, doing this painting was truly my pleasure and aligns with why i became an artist in the first place. I cant wait for the world to see this powerful film that truly tells the story and sacrifice that these brave men and women go through daily to protect our wild places. They truly deserve all the support they can get. And thanks to Matt Lindenberg and John for taking the rangers story to the big screen so the world can finally see the work that they do.

This piece will find its home in the late Sgt Anton’s office at the Timbavati PNR which is now Sgt Orlat’s Office. And the Sudan the Rhino toy was a gift for Sgt Leitah.

For those interested in the Sudan Rhino toy, 10% of all profits goes towards Dogs 4 Wildlife’s mission of training and supplying anti poaching K9s and can be found here @loboreincarnated

The film Rhinoman will be available worldwide on Amazon Prime, Google Play and others come July 26th in memory of the late Sgt Anton Mzimba. This film is incredibly moving and cannot wait to see the impact it has on the world!!

Only a handler understands this bond. This movie reminded me of us.

I watched Heart of the Beast which perfectly captured the bond and connection that I have experienced with my K9’s and that those who have also worked with a K9 partner as a team in the real world would instantly recognize.

Very few films have ever displayed the pure, unbreakable bond between a handler and his K9 as well as what this film has captured. It’s clear that the team have gained real insight from handlers, and it shows immensely onscreen.

There is no deeper, purer bond on this planet, and this film encapsulates that like none before it have. Incredible job, incredibly moving, congratulations to all those involved in bringing this to theatres.

Will probably see it again while it’s still in theatres. It deserves all the accolades it gets.

A lot of scenes reminded me of times I had with my late K9 Angel. (eg. Being surrounded by a pack of 5 coyotes at night by ourselves on the edge of the wilderness with no phone reception 😂) And also the dog, Odin, reminds of my Wolf (his reel is coming next). This film is a masterpiece. A pure dedication to the unbreakable, unconditional bond between man and dog.

Watching this film broke me btw, it hits hard when you’ve spent years developing your partnership with your own K9.

I love you K9 Angel, Rest in Peace.

Just got back from seeing @heartofthebeast Heart of the Beast again on it’s opening night here in 🇦🇺. Trust in me my friend for I am your comrade.

I will protect you with my last breath.

Ever Vigilant. Ever Loyal.

For a time we were unbeatable

E.O.W 06 August 2018. 8 years to the day that we were involved in that fatal crash that claimed your life and in all honesty should’ve taken mine too. By some miracle they said I came out alive; that miracle was you Angel, you were and always will be my real life Guardian Angel. I owe you every breath. I promise to make you proud. The world will remember your name.

I met Dr Jan Breitsohl (University of Glasgow) on the final day of the World Social Marketing Conference (@wsm_conference) in Alicante, Spain, last November. We started discussing the challenge of rhino horn demand reduction and realised that our approaches — art combined with science behaviour change campaigning and evidence-based behavioural research — could be highly complementary.

We’re now at the early stages of a collaboration to explore how these perspectives can be brought together to better understand what works in shifting attitudes, reducing demand and evaluating impact.

If this sounds like something your organisation would be interested in, feel free to reach out! by @ellobo88
