Tomorrow on Classic we have this piece which is the perfect setting to practice the skill of barbell cycling.

Pick 2-3 points of performance to help you keep the bar close, get into a rhythm and breathe throughout the whole complex.

Remember - Efficiency is king šŸ‘‘

Every 2:00 x 6-8 sets

3 Power Clean
3 Hang Squat Clean
3 Push Jerk

 - smooth unbroken complex throughout
 - start @ around 50% of 1RM PC / PJ
 - from there, decide whether to increase throughout or stick with the same weight
 - unbroken reps with solid technique is the priority

———

Classic is our flagship CrossFit program built around the principles and systems we have used for first time competitors to the CrossFit Games podium.

If you want to follow a structure that build fitness to compete or just enjoy you’re in the right place.

Every man and his dog is posting this quote from The Gentlemen at the moment so thought I’m jump on board.

ā€œA harmless man is not a complete man. A complete man is a dangerous man who has judgement under voluntary controlā€

This is an indirect quote from Jordan Peterson and I love it, but I don’t find some of the contexts it’s being shared in very helpful. So here’s my take.

James Clear talks about setting up environments that are optimal for you to succeed and surrounding yourself with people that support you in your journey. I 100% agree with him for the purpose of creating a change in your habits. But if you’re constantly avoiding these stimulus, what’s going to happen when they do come?

Avoiding situations to be tempted or ill disciplined doesn’t make you committed. Being committed is actively finding yourself in these situations and choosing to exercise restraint.

We need to build this fortitude that Peterson talks about, to take ownership of our reasoned choice. by @ellsimmo93

One thing I love to do is to read and write, but over the last few months I haven’t prioritsed it.

Now I am back in a rhythm of it, I wanted to share a recent entry that was inspired by Eckhart Tolle’s The Power Of Now.

ā€œFree yourself of your past. Don’t carry debts you can’t pay off, such as comparing yourself to a previous version of you or setting expectations that don’t reflect where you are.

Accept that your future is not dictated by your past and can’t be simply wished into existence. Your future is purely a byproduct of what you do in each moment of each day. The present.

Don’t try to understand it.

Be aware of the limitations you have right now.
Coach yourself with the same honesty you’d give a client.

Set your structure and show up to do the work in front of you and the future will take care of itself.ā€ by @ellsimmo93

When motivation fades and the process gets boring is usually the point where people quit. Not because training has stopped working, but because it stopped being interesting.

I try to make sure our Build program doesn’t sit still. Every block, we shift the stimulus, rep ranges, tempo, exercise selection, loading patterns and conditioning pieces.

We’re not talking about random workouts for the sake of variety. Progressive overload is still the backbone, adding volume or load over time, but mixing it up just before you plateau either mentally or physically.

New Build block starts tomorrow and you can get a free trial via the link in my bio which includes basic nutrition guidelines.

I can’t quite bring myself to stop throwing on the CrossFit shoes at the moment but I’m pretty sure some bodybuilding is just around the corner for me. šŸ‘¶šŸ½ 😓

I’ve always loved it and continue to program for clients whose goals are to look and feel good and I believe it’s really simple to put on muscle and stay lean, you just need the right structure and the right discipline.

Some of my recent experimentations are coming to the next block on @qhptraining Build program which starts next Monday 10th August.

Included in the program;
- 5-6 days of training a week.
- 60min sessions including warm ups.
- Video demonstrations for all movements
- Nutrition guideline documents by @ellsimmo93

Instantly improve your rowing technique by focusing on these 3 phases!

This applies to you whether you do CrossFit, Hyrox or just jump on the rower in your local gym.

You will most likely see immediate improvement in your pace / power / cals per hour BUT you may get tired more easily and revert back to old habits. It’s better to sacrifice these things in the short term to build a more efficient stroke because by lowering the cost of each stroke, you will be reaching new levels on the rower in no time. taken in FitGround by @ellsimmo93
