reading blew past me this summer, I feel like as soon as the sun was out this year I really struggled to pick books up. I did read however a few books and here are my thoughts on those:

⭐️intermezzo - my heart aches for peter, I think he’s extremely misunderstood and also under appreciated. As an older sibling, I really resonated with him. Sally Rooney knows how to poke at wounds, trust me I was CRYING😭

⭐️the bright years - another story that just shattered my heart. this is about a family and we get three perspectives which I really enjoyed. you truly cannot stay mad at one character for too long, you just feel sorry for them all.

⭐️the witch - this book is about a witchy mother whose daughters leave her behind once they begin to learn and develop their powers as witches. you can skip this one, it’s got a pretty cover but the story was quite dull.

⭐️my dark vanessa - this book was sitting on my shelf for 5 years before I finally picked it up this summer. the book is brilliant but disturbing. you really feel like you’re immersed in the story trying to tell vanessa no. I’m glad I have finally read it but I would only suggest it if you search up the trigger warnings before. by @elmas.reads

I can already feel my reading slump shed as the leaves turn brown and the sun goes down sooner!

me and my friends planned a cosy little getaway at this gorgeous cabin for my best friends engagement party! it was so wholesome and I’m missing our little chicken friends already🥹🧺🤍 by @elmas.reads

hi so I know I’m late to the party but you were all so so right about heart the lover, it is fantastic and heartbreaking all at once!

this story follows a girl nicknamed Jordan who goes off to college and meets these two best friends Yash and Sam. It escalates really quickly and becomes this inevitable love triangle. It’s unravels so quickly but so emotionally, it leaves you feeling nostalgic and heartbroken. This book reads as if Jordan is recalling the events she lived, I loved the writing style!

this was a 6 star read for me, I need more books that will give me this sort of heart ache🦋 by @elmas.reads

reservoir bitches!!!!

the author wrote this with such rage and I ate every single line up. this book was about 13 Mexican women who each had their own chapters and how each of them handled life. the chapters were interlinked and I loved seeing how each related to the other. it agreed with the theory that everything and everyone is connected🙂‍↕️

this was the perfect read for international women’s day, and I heavily recommend it!! by @elmas.reads

when someone asks me to recommend them a book I like to think really carefully about what they’re really asking for. do they want something thought stimulating or do they want something quick?

these are books that changed my brain chemistry and book I would genuinely pay MONEY to read for the first time again. do with that what you will🙂‍↕️🤎 by @elmas.reads

war (january) is over😮‍💨

mini jan reviews:

we love you, bunny: 3.5 stars! bunny is one of my favourite books ever but I do feel like the second book was a little dragged out. nevertheless I enjoyed being with the characters again and indulging in their trippy world🐰

hamnet: 5 stars!!!!!! ate and left no crumbs😙

all fours: 3.5 stars! this was about a woman going through an emotional rollercoaster and her entire life changing during her perimenopause. honestly felt super uncomfortable reading this but I guess that was the point🤓 by @elmas.reads

Hi hi hiiiii!🥹

I finished Hamnet last night gave it 5 stars!! the first five star of the year :)

This book is a deep dive into how grief and loss can impact people in different ways. Maggie O’Farrell does an amazing job at illustrating the different processes of mourning and how even if someone doesn’t show it, they are most likely hurting just as much as the person who does.

I thought I was prepared for this book but boy was I wrong. “What do you call a twin who is no longer a twin?” 😭😭😭😭😭😭 literally rip me to pieces won’t you. I didn’t expect to relate to this book as much as I did (justice for Sussana) but I truly believe it is a piece of art to be cherished and loved properly. I am beyond excited to watch the movie and compare notes I’ve heard nothing but amazing things!!!🥸 by @elmas.reads
