One of the greatest pleasures in my life as a painter is when I feel deeply seen by a writer. I am so appreciative for this generous piece of writing by my dear friend and co-thinker @johnhguevara. Thank you @latinxprojnyu for the support 🔥 by @elsa.munoz.art

Wildly happy to be included in the fifth print edition of Intervenxions by The Latinx Project at NYU!

A special thank you to my brilliant friend John Guevara @johnhguevara for engaging so deeply with my work and making it archive-worthy ✍️ ❤️

I’m also especially grateful to The Latinx Project for the work they do to preserve these stories and get their publications into library and museum collections, so that our work can be discovered, studied, and appreciated for years to come. Making sure Latinx artists and cultural practitioners are part of the larger historical record is so important, and I’m honored to be part of it.

Thank you, John, and thank you to The Latinx Project for all the important work you do ❤️

I originally painted this flower against a daytime smoky atmosphere to signal the visual language of my Fire-follower series. It sat for 5 months, and then I abruptly felt called to make it a nocturnal scene.

I’ve been thinking about how post-catastrophic ecologies are not only shaped by fire, but by darkness: the long period of disorientation, adaptation, and unseen repair that follows rupture. The night not as emptiness, but as a site of gestation.

We are living inside a profound shift, and the world, as it always has, is trying to tell us something.

I’ve come to terms with the fact that writing is a part of my painting practice. Thank you for reading and engaging 🙏✨

It gives me deep joy to announce my exhibition, The Great Turning, now up at Sweet Briar College in Virginia. Thank you for your care and enthusiasm along the way Clare van Loenen @sweetbriargalleriesmuseum_

This exhibition marks the first time I’ll be bringing together works from each of my series engaging fire ecology 🔥

This moment feels especially meaningful because it traces back to an earlier one. I want to extend my deep gratitude to the DePaul Art Museum @depaulartmuseum for hosting my work in 2023, and to curator @ionitbehar for her care and belief in my practice. That exhibition helped open a path that led to this invitation.

A reminder that nothing arrives in isolation—everything is made possible through community 🤍 taken in Sweet Briar College by @elsa.munoz.art
