Finally finding a moment to share some pics from the incredible Boil, Toil & Trouble show produced by @art.in.common and @gertie.chicago. It is an honor to work with people who champion the work of emerging artists by placing them in spaces and conversations with some of the biggest names in the art world. It was wild to have work a mere feet away from a #marinaabramovic! Thank you @zoelukov and @apucks for your vision and value systems 🙏🏼❤️

These exhibitions are designed to conjure a new kind of public commons, transforming singular found spaces through art and community intervention.

It is amazing to think that it has been a year since we set up Dialogues for Artists in a Changing World!

It is an absolute pleasure that we will be joined by the majority of our past speakers for a more informal session full of fun and exchange. Bring your sketchbooks and notebooks if you want, expect to meet many other like-minded makers and thinkers.

The power of art never ceases to amaze and inspire us. We had recently been told that this incredible oil painting by @elsa.munoz.art is distracting guests and viewers in the best possible ways when they gather in our client's conference room for meetings! We were lucky enough to acquire "Wave Vignette" for the Supera Collection and to have the opportunity to support another Chicago-based powerhouse female artist. Plus, Elsa's talented husband fabricated the gorgeous wood frame for the piece. ❤️❤️

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Elsa Muñoz is a Mexican-American artist born and raised in Chicago (1983). She received her BFA in oil painting from the American Academy of Art in 2006 and has since had eight solo shows at various venues including the National Museum of Mexican Art and at the prestigious Union League Club of Chicago. Elsa has also participated in several group shows throughout the United States and was recently awarded the Helen and Tim Meier Foundation For The Arts Achievement Award (2019). Notable collections include the National Museum of Mexican Art (Chicago), North Park University (Chicago), and the private collections of Martin Castro, Chairman of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (2011- ) and Dolores Kunda, former president and CEO of Leo Burnett P.R. and Lápiz. .

My practice is centered in the union of intuitive ways of knowing(particularly dreamwork and storytelling), our changing climate realities, and the role of art as a somatic healing technology. In this, my paintings manifest from the act of undrowning.

I am interested in the study of ecopsychology, the idea that our bodies (including unconscious aspects of the psyche) are sensitive to the transitions of the biosphere; somatic ecology, the theory connecting our relationship to our bodies to the environmental crisis; and ecomysticism as vital spiritual activism in times of collapse and uncertainty.#Repost @elsa.munoz.art
