BIRTH 8 Performance announcement! (July 26th, 7pm) tickets @birthscreenings bio

A live collaboration by Silas James and Emmanuel Szeptycki combining spoken word, improvised violin, ambient textures, and noise.

Influenced by 1990s underground spoken word/noise performances, this piece explores repetition, animal remains, and deteriorating civic logic. Municipal infrastructure becomes a soundscape of hold music, procedural language, and fluorescent dread. Bureaucratic surrealism gradually overtakes the performance, producing a portrait of a city struggling to process its smaller deaths.

Here's something new for you all. Near Ogden is an ambient piece in 4 parts that I've been tinkering around with since last August, out now on bandcamp and streaming everywhere else in the next couple days. You're welcome to listen to it with your full attention or in the background while doing any tasks have to do today. Happy spring 🦗🐦‍⬛🔔💚 by @em.zev

Time Anymore is out now! A series of snapshots from the last few years of making music, and a reflection on the sometimes humiliating process of learning how to be known. I hope your listening experience will be helpful and worthwhile to where you're at.

So many incredible people went into making this what it is. I want to give a special thanks to @rynpayne, who breathed so much life, body, and character into the sound of the record, it would not exist without his wonderful work. taken in Ile Aux Herons by @em.zev

Em’s album ‘Time Anymore’ is out today! I had the privilege of photographing the album art on an evening walk along the Humber river.

Here’s the cover and a few bonus shots/outtakes :)

Here's a bit of my song No One's Known, with some of Bryan's magic touch on the keys.

You can hear the two of us do the whole thing live this Saturday, Nov 8 at Lamp House!

The full studio recording will also be on my album Time Anymore, hitting the airwaves Nov 14.
