⛳️ Cape Arundel Golf Club

Cozy confines. Incredible design. Terrific conditioning. This place is a vibe.

Absolute must-experience near the coast in southern Maine. Founded in 1896 and designed by Walter Travis, it’s one of the oldest golf courses in the U.S. and today is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Quite simply some of the best greens you’ll ever find. Here are a couple beauts sitting side by side just off the road that runs alongside the club.

Miakka is a masterpiece.

The first nine holes of what might be the most stunning golf course in Florida are finished. Nine more still to come from @frystrakaglobalgolf — and they might be even more dramatic.

Massive movement to the land. Sharp-edged Australian Sandbelt bunkers. The greens are perfection and mowed to bunker edges. Enormous waste areas with native plants that add incredible color and texture. Stadium Zoysia grass from tee to green and everywhere in between. Solitude and serenity along the Myakka River.

The scale of what’s being done here is hard to fathom.
And incredibly special.

Pete Dye called Teeth of the Dog his masterpiece and it’s easy to see why. Plenty of classic Dye touches, but he didn’t have to do too much with this stunning land along the coast @casadecampodr .

The oceanfront holes here are sensational, including three of the four par 3s hugging the rocky coast.

Recently reopened after an extensive renovation, this Dye design is better than ever. Dye lived on property for years and now his ashes are, fittingly, spread in a pot bunker behind the 8th green.

You can see the wild springs if you look close enough…

One of golf’s next great destinations is tucked in the peaceful pines of northeast Texas: @wildspringdunes

Some shots from the sky of the Tom Doak design that’s now open for play, with the second course from Coore-Crenshaw under construction. For traveling golfers, this is another must to add to the bucket list. 🪣 📝 ⛳️

Is The Chain at Streamsong the best Par 3 / short course at any U.S. resort? It’s definitely in the discussion…

19 holes — including a 6-hole loop of shorter holes through moss covered trees, and then a longer and more challenging 13-hole routing around mining pits.

Located just across the entrance road from Streamsong’s hotel, The Chain full embraces the reclaimed land that used to be a phosphate mine. Most notably, @coorecrenshaw masterfully incorporated the steep-walled mining strips left by draglines that today are filled with water.

Short courses are all the rage and The Chain is as good as it gets.

A late-afternoon/evening swing around the Black course at Streamsong is a pretty perfect way to wind down the day.

A wide open and wild layout from Gil Hanse that I find myself liking more and more every time I experience it.

Got a first look at Bone Valley, the newest course at @streamsongresort in central Florida that is now officially open for public play.

Toured it in January with designing architect @dmkgolf, but experiencing the layout and strategy is completely different. And incredibly fun.

My first impression is that this might be the most challenging of the four 18-holers at Streamsong, with a premium on positioning and precision. Another absolute gem in the golf getaway genre.

Destination golf is booming.

And now gets even better with the debut of @wildspringdunes in the pines of northeast Texas. One course is open and two others (one of them a short course) is in the works.

Here’s a one-minute look of my recent visit.

Getting a first look at @wildspringdunes , the terrific new golf destination tucked in the pines of northeast Texas — just over 2 1/2 hours from Houston and Dallas. Wild Spring Dunes is of the three new projects in development from Sandborn, along with Rodeo Dunes in Colorado and Old Shores in Florida.

Tom Doak designed the first course at Wild Spring Dunes, taking full advantage of the rolling landscape with wide fairways and a handful of fun half-par holes. A second 18 is on the way, along with a short course and on-site accommodations.

And we did find some wild springs.
