PermaTest. It’s not enough to dose. You need to know what remains.

In oxidation processes using permanganate, monitoring the residual concentration in water is essential to ensure treatment efficiency and process stability.

An insufficient residual may reduce oxidation effectiveness, while overdosing can lead to undesirable effects, including the characteristic pink coloration of water. For this reason, continuous and accurate monitoring of residual permanganate becomes a critical process parameter.

Developed for drinking water, industrial and wastewater applications, PermaTest is EMEC's automatic monitoring system designed for the continuous measurement of residual potassium and sodium permanganate directly in-line. Through automatic sampling and electrochemical analysis, the system delivers reliable results in approximately 30 seconds, providing operators with real-time visibility of the oxidation process.

A typical application is the verification of residual permanganate concentration in drinking water treatment plants, where KMnO₄ is used for iron and manganese oxidation. PermaTest is equally suitable for industrial processes, environmental applications and wastewater treatment systems where continuous monitoring allows rapid corrective actions and improved process control.

Key benefits: • Continuous residual permanganate monitoring
• Fast analysis cycle of approximately 30 seconds
• Accurate electrochemical measurement with selective electrodes
• Wide operating range, from ultrapure water to seawater
• Dual sampling lines for multiple monitoring points
• 4-20 mA outputs and Ethernet Modbus TCP/IP communication
• Easy integration with SCADA and plant control systems
• Reliable operation in complex water treatment applications

For advanced process automation, PermaTest can be integrated with the EMEC PDS Permanganate Dosing System, creating a complete solution for both dosing and residual control.

PDS. Automated permanganate dosing under control.
In water treatment, permanganate plays a key role in addressing challenges such as iron and manganese removal, hydrogen sulfide oxidation, odour control and pre-oxidation processes.

Developed for drinking water, industrial and environmental applications, PDS (Permanganate Dosing System) is a compact and fully automatic solution designed for the continuous dosing of Potassium Permanganate (KMnO₄) and Sodium Permanganate (NaMnO₄) starting from liquid solutions.
The system automatically manages dosing based on water flow, ensuring reliable operation, dosing accuracy and process continuity. Through its touchscreen interface, operators can easily configure dosing parameters and monitor process performance in real time.
A typical application is the oxidation of iron and manganese in drinking water treatment plants, where maintaining a stable and accurate oxidant dosage is essential to process efficiency. PDS is also suitable for industrial water treatment, environmental remediation and wastewater applications requiring controlled and continuous dosing.

Key benefits:
• Automatic flow-proportional dosing
• Integrated flow monitoring and process alarms
• Automatic dosing pump calibration
• PID control capabilities
• Touchscreen HMI for simplified operation
• Ethernet Modbus TCP/IP communication
• High reliability and continuous operation
• Compatible with both potassium and sodium permanganate solutions

For even greater process control, PDS can be integrated with PermaTest, enabling continuous residual permanganate monitoring throughout the oxidation process.
From oxidation to dosing accuracy: one smart permanganate control system.

PermaDos. From powder to a solution ready for the process.
In water treatment, potassium permanganate is used to address a wide range of challenges, from the presence of iron and manganese to the control of odours and algae.
PermaDos was developed to automate one of the most critical stages of the process: the continuous preparation and dosing of Potassium Permanganate (KMnO₄) solutions starting from powder.

The system automatically manages key parameters such as concentration, flow rate and levels, while integrating advanced safety and control functions. This makes it an ideal solution, for example, for a drinking water treatment plant where iron and manganese need to be oxidised before the following treatment stages, ensuring a reliable and repeatable supply of oxidising agent throughout the process. It is also suitable for industrial and wastewater treatment applications where process continuity and dosing accuracy are essential.

Key benefits: • Automatic preparation with reduced manual intervention
• Controlled solution concentration through dedicated monitoring
• Modular and expandable design to adapt to different plant requirements
• Reduced energy consumption thanks to brushless drive technology
• Simplified maintenance and lower operating costs
• Continuous process with consistent solution quality
• Sealed powder handling for improved operator safety
• Available from 1,500 to 3,000 L/h through expandable configurations

PermaDos can also be used for odour control, algae management and environmental remediation processes, as well as wherever reliable permanganate preparation is a critical part of plant performance.

From preparation to dosing: one fully automated permanganate process.
