❤️‍🔥DETROIT BURNIN’ UP FOR JONAS❤️‍🔥 | Burning Up All Over Again Tour | 10.25.26

Not recorded: Big Rob!!! But he was there for his solo ✨🔥 by @emgem586

🎶✨Where would we be, if we couldn’t dream✨🎶

Burning Up All Over Again ❤️‍🔥🔥but this time with both of my gorgeous sisters on our first date night together in forever…like we haven’t stepped out all together since I opened the baby floodgates in 2022 with Axel’s birth, and we all dived into our motherhood journeys! So, you know for this occasion, the vibes were very brat! I cannot believe it was 20 years ago since Shannon and I experienced the legendary pop culture cannon event that was the original burning up tour back in 2008 (my mom reminded me that it was the first show we went to by ourselves).

I honestly didn’t think that I could experience seeing the JoBros again with that same level of pure euphoria that I felt as a 16 year old teenage girl, but I underestimated the depths of my fandom, the power of nostalgia and the way their music connects me to my sisters 🥹🥹🥹 Dancing and singing and fangirling over the Jonas Brothers together now was even more fun and special than it was 20 years ago…😭😭😭 and how could it not be?! Time has made us all tougher and hotter.

Also, I’ve long felt that the Jonas Brothers have always been respectful in their relationship to their mostly women and young girl fanbase, and knowing they are all parents too now…they really do radiate this positive “girl dad” energy and healed masculinity up on that stage. It’s so sexy! Restored my faith in men if only for a few hours.

In case there was any question, I am reinvigorated in my “fan for life” status. The hangover is hell but my only true regret is not wearing my flaming hot cheeto jacket to the show…Meg, Shannon, whadda think should we go again when they come to GR in December? Let’s take this to the group chat!

❤️‍🔥✨And I know we get a little crazy
And I know we get a little loud
And I know we’re never gonna fake it
We are wild, we are free, we are more than you think
So call us freaks, but that’s just the way we roll
‘Cause we’re old enough to know
We’re never letting go
‘Cause that’s just the way we roll🔥 by @emgem586

Life looks different now as a mom of 2. I *try* to stay grounded by journaling at the end of each day so I can remember all of the laughs, the messes, the fights, the makeups, the enduring love that runs like a thread through each day, instead of scrolling IG, always finding new ways to compare myself to influencer moms and friends who seem more successful, more regulated, more present, more of everything that I fear I am lacking in how I embody motherhood.

I want to document our adventures, our quiet moments, and big emotions with printed photos that are organized into big photobooks that decorate and collect dust on our shelves. That is the pace I am yearning for right now. Embracing what feels right in this moment.

Nothing else feels as meaningful, try as I do to keep finding something that fits me the same way they do when they are tucked into the sides of my arms while we nap together. I’m learning that motherhood isn’t something to perfect, only something to fully live. And I’m trying to live it like a 90’s mom with the social and political awareness of a 2026 Marxist feminist mama!

Here’s some pics of me being my favorite version of myself (Mom) lately with my dear Axel (HE’S GETTING SO BIG AND IT KNOCKS THE WIND OUT OF ME DAILY 😭) and sweet Phoenix (so pikachu coded honestly) 💕 and always, Mike. To paraphrase Angela Garbes, Motherhood is the essential labor that I believe has the power to transform ourselves and the world and being part of that with other parents and caregivers with the nurturing and love we create for our boys everyday here at home (while healing ourselves!!!) is the gift of my life ✨ by @emgem586

Longgg ass winter🫠 HELLO! 🌱🌞🪺🌷the family is in bloom 💗🪻🌼 and mike is really committed to the goth dad lewk 🖤 by @emgem586

Listen up everyone - it may be the 11th hour but it’s my bestie’s birthday today so I’m back to the grid for a big ole dump!!!! Dynamic wit, a music catalog in her brain that would intimidate even the smuggest hipster, most brat 😎Auntie, drop dead gorgeous from head to toe, and a face beat that is always better than yours. SHE IS THE MOMENT! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEV💚

It’s so kismet (not just because you have a 75% black wardrobe) that your birthday is on one of the most magical days of the year the ✨❄️winter solstice - a celestial turning point symbolizing death and rebirth, a shift from darkness to light after the longest night.

When we met all the way back in tenth grade, I was emerging from one of the cruelest periods of my life, but after we forged our sisterhood…I feel like I began living in the light again. I found the courage to reground myself in purpose that wasn’t self destructive after being lost for so long. I found the friend I always needed, and now I’m never letting you go bitch!!!

You lived every moment of year 33, and I can’t wait to see what you do in year 34! It’s going to be iconic no doubt 🎆 swipe to last pic for a throwback jumpscare by @emgem586

On Sunday, September 21st at 9:36pm, the last day of summer and Virgo season, right on the cusp of the fall equinox❤️‍🔥Phoenix Amir Sabbagh🐦‍🔥 joined us earthside with a valiant roar and we officially became a family of 4 ✨

After 9 hours of labor, we are so grateful that he was born healthy and safe alongside Mike, Beverly, and our midwife and nurse care team. I feel so fortunate to have experienced a beautifully transcendent labor journey with my loved ones beside me at RO Beaumont’s Karmanos Center for Natural Birth. Much like my birth at the Alternative Birth Center with Axel, it was an experience that deepened and strengthened me in ways I am still processing and will be for some time.

We are so proud to see Axel stepping into his new role as big brother as we soak up this special time together at home. If you would like to support us right now, we are asking folks to contribute to our meal train or diaper fund, the link is posted in the comments! 🙏🏻❤️

When we were thinking of baby names, Mike proposed Phoenix, and we decided on it very early on. The name is so symbolic to each of us as individuals and our family - it represents the rebirth of our unique selves coming out of the turbulent first years of parenthood with Axel, this new cycle of life for our family with Phoenix’s arrival, and of course, the Detroit connection (“Speramus Meliora; Resurget Cineribus” We hope for better things; it will rise from the ashes).

So far, little mr Phinney is doing great! He’s such a sweet, calm soul…it’s kind of rocking our world that a newborn can be this chill! And how lucky for him that he gets one of the coolest emojis in honor of his spirit 🐦‍🔥 by @emgem586

The summer I monopolized every outing as an opportunity to do a pregnancy glamor photoshoot ✨💋🤰🏻👠✨
THANK YOU to Julia and Sarah for being an inspiration of love! Your beautiful wedding was one of my favorite evenings of the summer - ice cream, bubbles, pop music, bbq and belle isle…what more could a girl ask for?!
And thank you @karipaine for taking a moment amidst the joyful celebration to SEE me, speaking my love language when you asked “would you mind if we did a little photoshoot? I have an idea…”💖 I feel like I had the teen vogue moment I’ve always dreamed of!!!
🫧🌈🌼
But don’t let the IG rose colored filters fool you! Although I’ve had a very fun pregnant girl summer, it hasn’t all been glitz & gloss. Very humbling experience. What the pics don’t say (but every person who has been pregnant in the summer knows) my hemorroids have been holleringgg, the boob sweat runeath over, and every time I eat and try to go to sleep, hot lava fills my throat no matter how many tums I take 😭 dm me for a whole other conversation about 💩💩💩 but with labor day weekend winding down and summer’s final goodbye with Dally in sight, I’m taking time to retreat into recluse, take several deep breaths and naps, eat ice cream, and bask in relief - I made it through the oppressively hot humid midwest summer days of parenting a toddler + pregnancy! Some days just barely 😅 (s/o to mike) feeling very ready to get off this rollercoaster and embark on the next one 🎢✨ by @emgem586

🪩✨ 🖤 I almost wish I went into labor at this show just so I could say “I went into labor at the LCD Soundsystem show at the Masonic Temple” to separate myself from all the other preggos! Thank you B for taking me 🥰 True friendship is inviting your bestie to the show and then getting in a fight (it’s been a very hormonal season for us both!!!) and getting uninvited but coming back together in the end to literally sweat it out and…dance yrself clean hehe

Killing it with close inspection
Killing it can only make it worse
It sort of makes it breathe
Present company accepting
Presently we all expect the worst
It works just like a need by @emgem586

some special moments this summer spent laughing, singing and dancing with family and friends 💙🟣🌅🪩
my body is stretching and strengthening in ways that feel unfamiliar although I have done this before. Balancing between movement that feels good, movement to keep good energy flowing, and resting as much as one can with a wild toddler to nurture and play with.
Axel likes to find “items” on our walks - twigs, acorns, leaves, bits of flowers 🍃✨and then throw them in his pool to see “do they sink or float?” So much curiosity! As I prepare to bring another new life into this world, I think - how will I protect their sense of wonder? In a world that feels deeply apocalyptic…and maybe it is. The fascist pigs and powers of our nations’ elected leadership are talking about turning prisons into immigration detention centers instead of tearing down the cages. We’ve spent weeks of this summer breathing in wildfire smoke from lands burning across the rivers and lakes. Each day we witness the terrorist state of Israel continue to enact genocide on the Palestinian people, land, and legacies, the images of starvation and destruction of bodies and homelands seeming more desperate by the day while we continue living our lives…Sometimes you are unsure what you are in the midst of while trying to survive.
A beautiful friend put it that we must continue to “witness and be changed through witnessing.” Keep seeking and affirming the truth to better carry on in our present realities.
▫️▫️▫️Even on the hard days, I keep regrounding myself in gratitude. Thankful to wake up to the sounds of birds chirping and the most precious voice in the world saying “mama wake up!!” because he cannot wait to start our day together and to go to sleep with him asking to “hug boobie” (his safe place). Thankful that my family is fed and safe in a home that is ours and no one goes to bed angry. Thankful for that magical red dress my sister found (before my pregnant belly emerged) that kept everything tucked in 🍑😅 Thankful to have loving community sending me “how are you?” text messages and inviting me to keep singing, laughing, and dancing…even if we are at the edge of the apocalypse☄️✨🌄 by @emgem586

✨Preggo lady goes fowling 🏈
So much fun celebrating my amazing friend and Gemini sister Jackie 💜🐈♊️
I can’t believe it’s been nearly ten years since we’ve met! You were being a badass (as per usual) managing the volunteer clinic escort program at one of the only independent abortion providers in Detroit, and ever since then I have been so inspired by your passion for living an authentic life that doesn’t compromise on your values and deep rooted sense of justice. I love seeing and hearing about your incredible travel adventures! It reminds me to be fearless in exploring and expanding my world because this one wild and precious life has so much to offer! You’re the number #1 bookworm, and so grateful for your friendship and having a small role in your grand story 📖🥰 by @emgem586
