PROTECT OUR RIGHTS, PROTECT OUR FUTURES AND DO NOT FAIL US! 💙

“You may die of old age, while we may die from the consequences of climate change.” 🌍

These are the words of our member Emilie Kamguia when se took the floor in the hemicycle of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) during the debate on climate action and young people.

Her message to the parliamentarians was clear - that young people are not only victims of the climate crisis. We are leading the way to transition.

She emphasized the need to implement the Recommendation on Young People and Climate Action and handed our support to the drafting of a convention recognizing the right to a healthy environment.

Let’s take action now! taken in Council of Europe by @advisorycouncil

We did it! From a proposal in Monaco to a resolution in Strasbourg 🙌

In May, our Chairperson Emma Wedner and Vice-chair Xesc Mainzer met the Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Monaco. They presented our priorities and proposed a joint debate on the urgency of concrete climate action, together with young people.

That debate has now happened, and on 1st of October 7 young representatives took part in PACE’s general debate on climate action and young people.

Thank you, Ms Aurora Floridia and the committee on social affairs, health and sustainable development for inviting us to contribute to the report and resolution, which was successfully adopted after the debate 💙

What comes next? We’ll keep pushing to:
🌱 Implement the recommendation on young people and climate action
⚖️ Support the drafting of a legally binding instrument on the right to a healthy environment at Council of Europe level

After the summer we’ve just lived through, and the ones still ahead of us, young people are not waiting. We’re demanding action 💪 taken in Palais De L'europe by @advisorycouncil

Climate protection is a human right, and taking action to protect the climate is therefore the responsibility of us all.
As Emilie Tamo Kamguia makes clear: it is above all young people and future generations who will bear the consequences if we fail to protect the climate today. Their voices must therefore be heard, and their perspectives must be taken into account.

Thank you to Emilie Tamo Kamguia and Benjamin van Bunderen Robberechts, who spoke on behalf of so many committed young people at the Council of Europe’s Parliamentary Assembly on the occasion of the pioneering recommendation “Europe, the fastest-warming continent: accelerating climate action with young people” and the recommendations from Aurora Floridia’s report. 💚
👉🏽 You can find the report at: https://pace.coe.int/en/files/36313

Court rulings in recent years have made it clear: It is the duty of member states to actively protect people from the consequences of the climate crisis. It is high time to put this into practice. 🌎✊🏽 by @advisorycouncil

Stunning sunsets, fairytale castles, delicious pasteis de nata & beautiful souls met along the way 🫶🏽🇵🇹

The good thing about travelling solo is that every day is a surprise. Became an improvisation master. ✨

A few weeks ago, my time as President of the @aej_epm and representative of the Occitan members came to an end ❤️💛

After years in local and student associations, I joined the Euroregional Youth Assembly in February 2023, and I could have never imagined how much it would change my life. Things escalated so quickly 🚀 Here is a little photo recap 📷

The AEJ is far from perfect, there is still a lot of work ahead to strengthen its organisation and impact. But I’ll forever be grateful to the @euroregionpm for the countless doors this cross-border experience opened for me and for the inspiring people I’ve met through the process, and who pushed me upwards (hello @falmendros) 🩵

My journey with the AEJ isn’t over since I have renewed my mandate, but this time not as president (enough is enough).

Wishing the best of luck to my friends and new trio of presidents @sira_nin @delphineperes @lopezplease 🍀

This video is a message from the future — a vision of what @emilietmk aims to achieve during the next mandate of the Advisory Council on Youth of the Council of Europe.

As our candidate, she will bring YEE’s values, environmental justice, inclusion, youth participation, and education in close collaboration with all AC members

Let’s turn priorities into impact. 💚 by @advisorycouncil
