The Council of Europe’s Advisory Council on Youth met this week in Strasbourg and the meaning of this meeting is much more significant than one realises🌟 30 young people (20 of whom are elected through the European Youth Forum) come together with the 46 Council of Europe States and hold equal power to shape policies, programs and budgets. As VP of the largest platform of youth organisations in Europe, I sit in the observer seat of the joint council and follow our common priorities that benefit the lives of young people across the continent🇪🇺

“Protect our rights. Protect our future. Do not fail us” – Emilie Tamo Kamguia (@advisorycouncil) urged the @pace_coe on 1 October. The Advisory Council on Youth and young people helped shape and prepare the PACE general policy debate, “Europe, the fastest-warming continent: accelerating climate action with young people”. They proposed the topic, suggested young speakers and commented on the agenda; Emilie also took part in a preparatory meeting. Young representatives then participated in the debate, calling for urgent climate action - a long-standing priority for young people - and for young people’s rights and voices to be protected. From the Advisory Council on Youth, Emma Wedner, Xesc Mainzer and Emilie Tamo Kamguia attended, together with Léna Coco Kovats (@regeneration.2030), Filip Jankovic (@cdnee) and Haytam Benchachoum (@iaas.world).

Strasbourg, 24-26 June 2026 Together with 120 young leaders from across Europe, I had the opportunity to take part in #youthinnovatingdemocracy as the representative for @rdj.ostbelgien. Organised by the @councilofeurope and the @youth_forum, we co-created a manifesto that will contribute to shaping the New Democratic Pact for Europe. I was sent by a privileged organisation in a privileged country, where the youth sector is stronger than in many other parts of Europe. That is exactly why I am so grateful to everyone who shared their experiences and reminded us how much work still lies ahead. Every youth organisation deserves the same opportunities, resources, and recognition. We should use our experience and our platforms to support organisations that often do not have the resources to advocate for themselves. Our manifesto states: "For us, democracy is a culture to live and a path to build." I want to help build that path.
