Mabel should have turned 7 last week, everything feels wrong. I’m grateful that I have as many photos and videos of her as I do, but there are still so many little quirks and moments that I wish I had taken the time to record. I’ll never stop missing my Mabel girl 💔💔

We’re less than a week away from the silent art auction, so I thought I’d share a little more about why I decided to organize this event

I’ve hesitated to share because I didn’t want to center myself in any way, but I think it’s maybe worth sharing a little more of the “why”

Earlier this year, I came across a photo that was too striking to scroll past: Some young shepherds in a scenic field in Syria examining an unexploded missile jutting out of the ground, their sheep carry on calmly and completely unaware

The juxtaposition was jarring. We’re all used to seeing countless images of destruction, war, and violence by now. But for some reason, I immediately felt the need to paint this one

I had also come across a social media post with suggestions for ways creatives could get involved, and organizing a community art auction was on the list. I know a lot of artists and thought, “Why not? It can’t be that hard.” (Always famous last words)

There have been a few hiccups along the way — including rescheduling from August to October — but here we are!

AmnestyKC and Heart to Heart International are doing the important, life-saving work that’s needed more than ever, and my hope is that we can help support their efforts through community and art!

I’m incredibly grateful for the generosity of all the artists, friends, coworkers, and community members who have helped bring this event together

This painting, along with many others, will be up for bidding THIS Saturday, October 10 ❤️

((Early bidding begins October 9 at 1pm))

When I picked up a rock earlier this spring and found a little snail curled up underneath, I had no clue it would lead to so much silliness, whimsy, creativity, and pure joy. So with all of my heart, I hope you enjoy my snart as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it 🐌🎨💕
