Paul and Silas sang in prison. It never says if they sounded good. Sing it out and let God do the rest!

I am determined to live an integrated life of faith with my family. One way we do this is to openly talk about our journey with God throughout the day. I don’t act like I know everything, but focus more on sharing my own learning and growing with my kids.

For this reason I love creating little ditty’s that we can come back to throughout the day and even time and time again to remind us of spiritual realities that are ever present. Like this one we made up this morning! And the fun thing is- they now can help me in the creation- this allows them to feel that this is their journey too!

Lately we’ve been talking about the Holy Spirit and asking the Holy Spirit to fill us a fresh each day as Paul writes: “Be filled with the Holy Spirit” implying a continual filling!

When we feel lacking in the fruits of the Spirit, we’ve been coming back to this chorus: “Fill us, fill us!”

What a great reminder that our righteousness isn’t something we can muster up, but rather a result of an overflow of His Spirit in us.

We are so easily formed by the pattern of the world—produce, achieve, accomplish, worry about it all—that we can forget how to simply be alive. We become slaves to our work, our striving, and ultimately to the patterns of sin that tell us our worth must be earned.

But Sabbath interrupts that pattern.

It teaches us to stop. To receive. To delight. To play. To notice beauty. To discover what makes our souls come alive.

Sabbath is the practice of freedom—the freedom Christ gives us to live not as slaves to our work or our sin, but as beloved children of God.

Happy Sabbath everyone.
