Sometimes you just need a rest, but you don't feel like it is okay to take it.
In a culture of capitalism, this can often trigger shame, inadequacy, and self-judgment. The stress of our survival strategies impacts our minds, bodies, and hearts. It changes how we feel and how we view ourselves and the world. It's not your fault. Your brain and nervous system respond to structural systems and cultural messaging that create a threat response.

May you find a peaceful place, even for one minute today. by @emilybenaron

Grief is often a winding path with no clear end in sight. For me, it’s been so important to look for and open to moments that bring me peace. Being in nature is one of those moments, especially the water. When in pain it’s easy to restrict and contract, it’s a natural response to stress. Water reminds us to both move and allow the ebb and flow of what life brings to us.

If you’d like support in moving held energy and allowing greater connection to yourself, please join @emilybenaron and myself at @yogasoup this Saturday 10/3/26 for a workshop on grief & letting go using embodied practices and ritual. We would love to support you in creating space and tending to yourself sacred heart. Link in bio. by @emilybenaron

The Five Remembrances- A teaching from the Upajjhatthana Sutta

I am of the nature to grow old.
There is no way to escape growing old.
I am of the nature to have ill health.
There is no way to escape ill health.
I am of the nature to die.
There is no way to escape death.
All that is dear to me and everyone I love are of the nature to change.
There is no way to escape being separated from them.
My actions are my only true belongings.
I cannot escape the consequences of my actions.
My actions are the ground upon which I stand.

This teaching has been one of the most important practices of my life. As taught by the Buddha and through the teaching of Thich Nhat Hanh, I recite this daily as a reminder of impermanence, a reminder to practice mindfulness, to be present for my life, and for my relationships knowing that they are of the nature change. To have awareness of my choices and actions, knowing that we are inter-beings and all choices have impact.

Join me with @marifullmer at @yogasoup on October 3, to explore the nature of impermanence and how we can continue to resource our hearts through all of life’s inevitable changes.

Happy Birthday to this one!! 🧡 🎂 🦉
@marifullmer and I have been on quite the journey together learning and growing personally, professionally, spiritually, energetically! Thank you for being my dear friend, sister on the healing path, and esteemed colleague and mentor!

Here is something I think we both have learned along the way:

When we create space to be with what is in our hearts and bodies with kindness, curiosity, and acceptance, we can create an atmosphere of compassion in which we relate to and attend to ourselves and others. We allow for an experiential understanding of our whole inner experience. An atmosphere of self-compassion creates the safety needed to explore our inner landscape with tenderness and care.

Somatic mindfulness is a practice of inner awareness. We feel within our bodies for sensations and physiological responses to explore our experience in the moment on a deeper level. This is awareness beyond our automatic thoughts and assumptions, This is a practice that we can grow over time, expanding our capacity to be with memories, emotions, and sensations while staying present. It is also a place where we can experience joy and gratitude. It expands our ability to hold all that is.

Please join our upcoming workshop* Resourcing The Heart, on Saturday, October 3rd at @yogasoup. We will honor the profound experience of grief through yoga, guided reflection, embodied practices, and meaningful rituals, while nurturing our capacity to stay present, soften into what is, and open our hearts. We would love for you, your loved ones, and your clients to join us.

There is a discount rate for early registration. Please reach out with questions! by @emilybenaron

It is quite amazing to recognize what it truly has meant to stand on the precipice of this ever-evolving life with my beloved @joeybenaron. As we acknowledge our wedding anniversary, I found myself both celebrating love and grieving loss. Our growth over the last 17 years together is profound and continues daily. We have so much gratitude for our family and friends who have made this journey together feel so supported. We carry our loved ones who are no longer in their earthly bodies in our hearts, always and forever. Looking back on photos of this beautiful day is a practice of remembering what is most important in this impermanent life. by @emilybenaron
