Grief is often a winding path with no clear end in sight. For me, it’s been so important to look for and open to moments that bring me peace. Being in nature is one of those moments, especially the water. When in pain it’s easy to restrict and contract, it’s a natural response to stress. Water reminds us to both move and allow the ebb and flow of what life brings to us.

If you’d like support in moving held energy and allowing greater connection to yourself, please join @emilybenaron and myself at @yogasoup this Saturday 10/3/26 for a workshop on grief & letting go using embodied practices and ritual. We would love to support you in creating space and tending to yourself sacred heart. Link in bio.

💖✨ Resourcing the Heart ✨💖
Yoga & Embodied Practices for Grief
Saturday, Oct. 3 @ 3 pm
with Emily Benaron & Mari Fullmer

Are you holding pain from a loss? Feeling frustrated with patterns that persist? Or carrying the weight of suffering in the world?

In this workshop, we will courageously tend to our hearts—gently softening the protective shells that may form around them, meeting what we long to push away, and learning to release what we can no longer hold.

This offering creates a compassionate space to nourish and resource the nervous system through yoga, guided reflection, embodied practices, and meaningful rituals. Together, we will honor the profound experience of grief while nurturing our capacity to stay present, soften into what is, and keep opening our hearts in connection with one another and all beings.

Through practice and community, we will explore how to meet grief and loss with compassion, surrender, and love. Together, we will create a shared vessel of refuge, resilience, and care—a space to tend to ourselves and one another, to feel what is here, and to remember that we do not have to move through grief alone. Join us to keep expanding our hearts in deep connection with each other and all beings.

108 Sun Salutations for Summer Solstice.

Every year I leave this practice humbled by how much more it becomes than movement.

This ritual was born in the wake of my dad’s death. At the time, I had no idea it would become such an important part of my grief process. What began as a way to move with loss has become a way to be with all of it: joy and sorrow, laughter and heartbreak, effort and ease, beginnings and endings.

This year felt especially beautiful because it wasn’t mine alone.

Luca brought water…softness, flow, the low belly, the reminder that every inhale is a sunrise and every exhale a sunset.

@emilybenaron brought fire…a beautiful mudra practice and attention on clarity, passion, light, and a beautiful invitation into our own inner radiance. And a playlist that really picked to the energy!

@ellnereddie brought air and space….. perspective and the reminder that while we often identify so strongly with our bodies, there is something within us that is larger than the body itself, spacious enough to hold everything.

And I brought earth. Grounding. Roots. The story of how this all began. A rhythmic breath. Intention. And the Gayatri mantra.

Together, we moved through 108 Sun Salutations, counting each round with black beans placed into a singing bowl after every 27. Flowers in the center. Breath moving through the room. People arriving, leaving, resting, returning. Some stayed for one round. Some stayed for all 108. Every way of participating felt complete.

What I love most about yoga is its willingness to hold what appear to be opposites. Grief and gratitude. Strength and tenderness. Action and surrender. Individual intention and collective energy.

Thank you to everyone who came, practiced, rested, laughed, cried, donated, witnessed, and shared this sacred solstice ritual with us.

My heart is very full. 🤍

☀ Summer Solstice 108 Sun Salutations ☀
Tuesday, June 23, 12-2 pm
with Kelly Heath, Emily Benaron, Eddie Ellner, & Luca Cupery
By donation, benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Celebrate the peak of summer light with the powerful practice of 108 Sun Salutations. We’ll move together for two hours with very short pauses every 27 rounds — and you’re welcome to come and go as you need.

Why 108?
Across yoga, mathematics, and spiritual tradition, the number 108 symbolizes wholeness, cosmic order, and the interconnectedness of all life. There are 108 sacred sites in India, 108 marma points in the body, and 108 beads on a mala used for meditation and mantra. Practicing 108 Sun Salutations is a ritual of purification, discipline, devotion, and renewal

2016 was the year that allowed me to leave Santa Barbara for San Francisco in early 2018. It was formative — I’d just recovered from disordered eating for the first time, unleashing my ability to lead a bigger, fuller life. My energy was soaring, and I channeled it into running a yoga studio, teaching, and freelancing.

I lived in a sweet garden studio in downtown SB and swam in the ocean nearly every day. As I held SF as a possibility in my mind, I paved the way. Looking back, I can see how happy I was with friends, kids, and my community.

What’s my secret to psychological health?
A lot of it isn’t in your head—it’s in your body. That’s why I’m so in love with movement, breath, self-massage, heat, cold…all the things that get your nervous system back online.

One of the most comprehensive guides I’ve ever found on this is Body By Breath by Jill Miller. It’s an incredible deep dive into breath, fascia, and whole-body health.
