As a bridal MUA, I realised very early on that high-quality images were my income 💄📸

Long before smartphones or Instagram were even a thing, I took a DSLR camera to every wedding. Not because I wanted to be famous or become a content creator. I simply realised that every beautifully photographed bride would either make another bride want to book me… or not.

My camera didn’t just document my work. It sold it.

That’s why I invested in photography courses right from the beginning. I wanted every future bride to see my work exactly as it looked in real life.

Now I hear MUA and hairstylists saying, “I don’t want to become a content creator.” Neither do I! Nor do I have the time. I don’t believe every bridal MUA/H needs to become an influencer. But I do believe every one of us need to know how to present our work online.

Your future brides don’t meet you first, they meet your portfolio. Let this sink in.

If they find you online, they have no idea how talented you are. They can only judge what they see. If your photos are dark, the colours are wrong, the angles don’t flatter your work or your videos don’t do your artistry justice, they’ll simply move on. Not because you’re not good enough, but because they couldn’t see how good you really are!

In this instance photography skills aren’t about you becoming an influencer. It’s about making sure your work gets the opportunity it deserves.
