Why Shiatsu? Once I began building an awareness of my Qi I was naturally drawn to want to share it and to learn to use it for healing. I signed up for a three year shiatsu training with Bristol school of shiatsu. I was blown away by this course, it was transformational on every level, completely shifting my understanding of health and well-being. Shiatsu is a form of Japanese body-work rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, drawing upon 1000’s of years of ancient wisdom of observing the human body as interconnected to all of life. It is not about fixing symptoms but instead addresses the underlying causes of disease. Allowing the infinite wisdom of our body to heal itself, allowing us to come back to wholeness. I am in awe of the human body and energy field and it’s capacity to heal when we make time to slow down and listen, to follow the flow of what’s here, what’s present from moment to moment. Shiatsu taught me how to touch and be touched, how to listen deeply to my own body and those of my clients. It is still a mystery to me and I’m sure it always will be, because it’s here in the mystery that magic can happen. by @emma.sunhouse
I thought it was time I shared a little bit about why I love Qi Gong My healing journey began with a crunch when I broke my neck in a snowboarding accident. After years of physio and chiro treatments I turned to yoga and massage, it all helped but my shoulders and neck remained stiff and painful. Eventually I thought I’d try Qi Gong. In my first session my shoulders dropped and I experienced my body in a new way, light, spacious and deeply relaxed. I floated out of the room with a huge smile on my face. Full of curiosity what is this mysterious thing they call Qi? After 18 years of practice of playing of deeply listening I still struggle to explain what Qi is as we all experience it in our way, it is unique to each of us and yet it is connected to everything. It’s the energy, the life force that animates each cell in my body and flows through every living thing. It is responsible for the movement of the tides in the ocean, for spinning of all the planets in our galaxy it is vast and intangible and yet fully here within everything. Qigong helps to guide me to the truth of who I am, it helps to open my body, the cells, the tissues, the muscles, the joints allowing more space for Qi to flow freely so I can come into a place of balance, a place of both fullness and emptiness, connected to all of life. If your curious to find out more or would like to join one of my classes I’d love to hear from you ❤️ by @emma.sunhouse
Breathwork cracked me open! My first experience of Conscious Connected Breathwork blew my mind, i went on a journey like no other, it was emotional, it was cathartic and I was left feeling new, reborn fully connected to the bliss of my human body, watching streams of energy run from my fingers, it felt like bliss. Since that experience i have become passionate about breathwork and its potential for offering healing. All of our traumas, our stresses, physical tension, emotional blocks, limiting beliefs and habits are stored in our body, in our tissues, in our cells and in our energetic vibration. Our breath offers a way in, an opportunity to clear blocks and access our natural free flowing life force, to touch the places inside where we feel safe, loved and connected to all of life, the place that is already whole and perfect. I love sharing this work, why not come and join me for a session, you’ll be amazed at the releases you can experience. I offer both group and individual sessions both in person at the beautiful Sunhouse and online. Do get in touch if you’d like to know more or to book a session. Thank you to everyone joining me last for last night‘s full moon Samhain Breath journey to honour all that is dying in our lives. It was a beautiful gentle heart opening session. Making space for our grief Making space for our Breath Making space for our feelings Making space for our Love. I hope to see you at the next one have a wonderful magical autumn everyone. Next session Samhain Poetry dive Sunday November 8th 10.30 to 1 pm. I’d love to see you there. “Everything is beautiful and I am so sad. This is how the heart makes a duet out of wonder and grief. The light spraying through the lace of the fern is as delicate as the fibres of memory forming their Web around this knot in my throat. The Breeze makes the birds move from from branch to branch as this ache makes me look for those I’ve lost in the next room in the next song in the laugh of the next stranger. in the very centre under it all, what we have that no one can take away and all that we’ve lost face each other. It is there that I’m adrift, feeling punctured by a holiness that exists inside everything . I am so sad and everything is beautiful. “ Adrift by Mark Nepo by @emma.sunhouse

BREATH JOURNEY FOR SAMHAIN A Breathwork Journey to honour our grief and remember our loved ones who have passed. Breathwork has been a powerful tool for me to heal my grief. It has allowed me to turn towards the complex and difficult emotions that have accompanied each of my losses. And it is something I have witnessed time and again in the sessions I offer. Breathwork offers us a space “out of time” a space away from our ordinary way of thinking and being. It allows us to enter the unknown, the liminal spaces of not knowing and offers us an opportunity to connect with our grief for what we’ve lost in a new way, in a way of remembering of being together and of celebrating our lives together. We only grieve for that which we love and when we have space to feel it all, grief can soften us, it can tenderise our hearts to open to the love that is eternal, that is beyond. This will be a gentle heart opening breath journey to honour that which we grieve for. It may be a loved one, a pet, a past relationship or our grief for the earth. We will light a candle, breathe and connect with these important parts of our lives that we have lost. TICKETS £30 WHAT TO EXPECT? - We will begin with an opening breath awareness meditation to help you reconnect with your body and breath. - We will each light a candle for something or someone in our lives we have lost bringing awareness to them within our circle of being together - I will then explain the technique, so we all know what to expect. We will then move into some embodied movement to open our bodies and shake out the tension - Then lie down and get comfy and I will guide us through a 60 min Conscious Connected Breathwork journey, set to carefully selected music. - Then it’s time for integration and heart-centred sharing before we close the space. This will be small group circle of up to 8-10 people, to keep it safe and intimate and by @emma.sunhouse
Poetry Dive For Samhain At The Sunhouse Sunday 8th November
10.30am – 1pm Price £30 The Equinox has just passed and we are now beginning the slow gentle exhale into autumn and towards the celtic festival of Samhain. This is an ancient fire festival that marks the end of the Celtic year. A powerful time of year as we begin our decent into the the dark months of winter. A time for reflection, It calls us to ask us what is dying in our own lives, what are we ready to let go of.  At Samhain it is said that the veil between worlds is at its thinnest, it is often seen as a portal time allowing access the otherworld. A time to  journey deep into the void and communicate with those that have passed. A time to give thanks to our ancestors and all who have gone before us.  This will be the theme of our Poetry Dive, a deep invitation to connect to our inner worlds and see what may arise from behind the veil. For me poetry is the language of the soul, of the feeling self, the language of intuition that can’t be understood, it needs to be felt in our tissues and bones. During the poetry dive there will be an invitation into free writing, just letting the pen move without a plan, without knowing what wants to come. This is a place where the magic can happen, where our unconscious hidden world can be made known, helping us to get in touch with our inner feelings.

This is something I am passionate about and I’m excited to share what I deeply love with you.  https://sunhouse.wales/2026/09/24/poetry-dive-for-samhain/ by @emma.sunhouse
Thank you to everyone who came to the Equinox retreat day what a joy to share with you all. Heres a bit of what others said: “From my arrival I felt welcomed and at home in the beautifully environment of the Sunhouse, inside and outside. It’s the first time I have experienced Qigong and I adored it from the word go! What a relief to feel the energy flow - around and out and back in. I suffer with arthritis, especially in my feet, and I was amazed that I was able to jump around barefoot. It felt like a blessed relief, and I loved being tickled by the earthworms :) The poetry dive was an amazing experience, I found a real release in the creative free dancing; then the bliss of the poetry dive. What a treat that was! Being able to lie and move while we were led into an almost dreamlike state by the combination of an amazing playlist as the background to an equally amazing selection of poems. It was a joy, as I heard some that were familiar to me (Rilke, Oliver, Nepo, Berry, Hafiz) and some that were new. I loved the repetition of the poems - that in itself felt like a beautifully woven dance. Then a perfect follow-up to be able to free-write, read out loud and share with a partner. Having delicious herb tea and wholesome cakes at the end was the perfect end to a perfect afternoon. I can’t thank you enough. I have brought so much of it away with me. The Sunhouse has been a really rich discovery for me.” Julia Next One: Poetry Dive for Samhain November 8th 10.30-1pm by @emma.sunhouse

Qigong Makes you Strong - Set Five - Here are three powerful Qigong standing postures Zhan Zhuang - Standing like a tree or Standing in emptiness is one of the foundational practices of Qigong. To simply stand and open, It helps build the structure of the body, building internal energy (qi), deepens body awareness, and aligns our posture, so we can begin to release unconscious tension and holding patterns in the body. Holding a relaxed open physical stance, imagine any tension melting from ice to water. if you have tension in the shoulder can you soften, breathe into it and let it melt and releases. Start with 2 mins each then build to 5 mins a day 1. Standing 1 - lower embrace the tree 🌳 2. Standing 2 - embrace the tree 🌳 3. Standing 3- Buddha holds the sky ☁️ 4. Golden Chicken shakes the forest 🌳 🐥🌳 my favourite way to finish….. shake it off and let your Qi flow by @emma.sunhouse
