Ello ello! I’m Emma Gray and I’m ready for work 🫡

Fresh pics calls for a fresh intro for anyone stumbling across my page or for anyone from school wondering what I’m up to now 😄

All my life I have fluctuated between theatre & acting and photography. After only looking round uni open days at photography courses, I very last minute switched to a theatre course and headed off to drama school… camera in hand.

My eye for detail down the lens and my love for performing to it, intertwined early on, pushing me to learn to edit and create films and absolutely loving every part of the process.

Little did I know leaving uni that all of my interests would come into play in my working career. After creating my play @yeahnofine with @graceeealice in 2023, I went part time freelance and part time as a content creator for @broadwaycinema, where they give me so much creative freedom I often laugh at what I do for a living, bringing such silly ideas to life and posting them out to the world.

Now, I’m mixing up the freelance jobs on a weekly basis and I love it! Photography, acting, film editing, content creating, facilitating workshops, you name it.

At the root of it all, I absolutely love visual storytelling… and spreading joy. It’s cringe but it’s true. I love comedy and I love people. Celebrating them - either sharing their stories or making them laugh. Acting out characters or shooting them on my camera, it’s all a celebration of how great people are. Highlighting the small joys of being human.

Aaaand I love to work with them too! A huge part of why I love what I do, is because of the people I get to work alongside. So if you’d like me for any of the above, you know where to find me! (give me a dm)

This reel is not my finest work 😆 but that’s ok because my zine is much better!!

I’m taking part in the @wearecompakt Mini Market this Saturday at @movers.venue in Hockley! So if you didn’t manage to make it to my exhibition you can purchase one of my State of Being zines there! (Also still posting them if you’re far away and would like one) 💌

There are going to be tonnes of publishings to feast your eyes on from all over the East Midlands 😍 I for one am very excited.

✨A HUGE THANK YOU✨
(This post was supposed to come a month ago but in typical delayed film fashion, my film got lost in the post for a month and I’ve only just received it).

SO.

A mind blowing 363 of you walked through the doors of my exhibition in May - so many travelled from far away 🥹, so many strangers 🤯, and lots of you local ☺️.
I’d like to say thank you to every single one of you who turned up, who shared about it, who bought a print or a zine. This exhibition was a lot of work and every time someone walked through the door or bought my work(!?) I felt genuine joy.

The conversations that came from this exhibition was my favourite part. Chatting about what stood out to you and why and how you related to the images, your favourite prints (some of which I nearly didn’t put in the exhibition - very interesting), and your own personal endeavours into photography.

This project wouldn’t have been possible without @broadwaycinema once again giving me a space and platform to put on these personal projects/ideas I have. I really have wormed myself into every corner of that building and sought out every possible opportunity 😅 so thank you Lee for the Gallery space and for allowing a gals vision to come to life. Thank you @rhiannond.art for helping me create a zine of my dreams(!!) and @felicityiscreative for the stunning poster. Thank you Gordy, Broadway’s technician, my go-to-guy when I had any question or query about DIY, and to @kate_munns_ and @kheeva.cheema my QUEENS, always willing to help. @ntuprintshop thank you for your perfect, speedy printing and for answering more of my questions and to nottshappening for getting all the strangers through the door.

Art CONNECTS people. Photographs are fantastic conversation starters and this has been my highlight of 2026 so far. I’ve wanted to do this for so long and it did not disappoint. Sometimes you’ve just got to do projects to give yourself a challenge, learn some new stuff and give your work a platform. To share the art. Even better when you have people to share it with 🫶🏻 so thank you.

Love when an idea comes to fruition 💡

It’s almost been a week since the doors closed on my lil gallery 🥲 but the work hasn’t stopped as now I’m onto the print orders 🫡

My progress videos ended a little early as the work got more intense so here is a compilation video of the two weeks before opening instead of the vlog style because well, it’s all over now. Unless you want those videos still?

Anyway. This project has been my highlight of 2026 so far. (A couple more posts to come about this photography exhibition and then I’ll move on… to my next project…) taken in Broadway Cinema by @emma96gray

✨ AND WE’RE OPEN!! ✨

After opening the doors at 12 on the dot because two strangers were knocking on the door, I sat down in the gallery full of my images and burst out laughing with the thought “I can’t believe I’ve done it”.

I’ve wanted to scream with excitement every time a stranger has walked in but resisted as not to scare them away. Already so many visitors 🥹 and so many great conversations.

So grateful for everyone who has given me a helping hand in so many ways and for anyone who has encouraged me and anyone planning to visit. Grateful for art. There’s a lot of gratitude floating about. (I’m also shattered but I’ll cope).

Where is the State of Being photography exhibition? 📸

I don’t believe the Broadway Gallery is really ‘on the map’ yet. So here are some directions for getting there.

The Broadway Gallery is on the backside of @broadwaycinema in Hockley. You can access the gallery front at 17 Heathcote St, NG1 3AL opposite Jam Café or you can head directly into Broadway (look for the big painted eye down Broad Street). Head downstairs past screens 3&4, take a left and you will find the gallery at the end of the colourful corridor.

Any staff member will be happy to point you in the right direction if you’re lost. That building is a rabbit warren.

Hopefully you will find your way and I will see you there!
